A March 2003 trip
to Maui by BrianFoss
Quote: Went to Kauai, Maui, and Oahu and got married. Accommodations were at the Embassy Resort in Poipu, the EVR in Ka'anapali, and at the Marriot in Waikiki. It was great . . . from Napali hikes, helicopter rides, the Road to Hana, whale watches, dolphins, sunrise at Haleakala, Pearl Harbor, aquariums, etc. We had a blast!
We also went to the Old Lahaina Luau, which was well worth it. The food was average but the entertainment was top notch. We also made the obligatory trips to Bubba Gumps and to the Hard Rock, and both were really nice for cocktails and a light bite to eat after all day shopping and sailing.
We also went to the Hula Grill. Oh this was special! Great sunset dinner location and open air seating right on the water. One of the top spots for ambience and great seafood. Nothing was less than fantastic. I would recommend any of the fresh fish.

Attraction | "Warren and Annabelle/Ulalena"
As we were on our honeymoon after being married a week earlier in Kauai, we both were delighted to have front row seats. I became part of the show and boy was it great fun. I was in tears most of the time from laughter, even when I was the butt of his jokes. It was just a tremendous evening!
We skipped the dinner and just attended the show as we ate at Longhi's. It was the right decision. People had appetizers and seemed happy but we enjoyed our fine dinner at a great eatery! We also went to Ulalena and it was worth the money, $25 each. The aerial acts were very nice and was a joy to see the spirit of ancient Hawaii being enacted.

Attraction | "Mountain Riders Bike Tours"
We took a van up the mountain for a one hour drive after all was said and done, and witnessed breathtaking views and were above the clouds. We were given gortex pants and tops as well as a helmet for the ride down the mountain. We were able to stop several times and our guide was safe for the novices who had never been on a bike for 20 years.
The ride down was a fun way to experience another part of Maui, and we even stopped in Paia' and went to the beach. We stopped part way down in a small town and had a nice Mexican breakfast that was included in the price.
Imagine biking down a volcano 10,000 feet up at 35 degrees at the top and enjoying the view and biking down the crater. Don't miss this. Believe us, it is safe!
