A hidden gem that only the Germans and Italians have seemed to find so far. Wonderful section of Croatia that did not die from the Balkan conflicts.

Best part of the trip for me was hearing first-hand accounts of the locals on how they survived the attacks and are rebuilding their communities after the Serbs attacked the area.

Folk Dances
Every Sunday morning (9:00-12:00 when we were there), the locals perform traditional dances in their traditional outfits. From the photo, you can see one woman with a black skirt--she's married. The other girls with their white skirts are single. Two spokespersons describe the dances in Croatian and English before each dance. Throughout the rest of the town center, vendors have items for sale. The whole morning is definitely worth the time.
