Overview

Elmer's Grocery
The trail is a 10 foot wide path of compacted stone designed for hiking, jogging, walking, horseback riding and bicycling. Users of the Heritage Rail Trail can ride through the historic Howard Tunnel - the oldest continually operational rail tunnel in the world and visit Hanover Junction Railroad station, where President Abraham Lincoln stopped in route to give his famous Gettysburg Address. Another must stop is Elmer's Grocery in Seven Valley's to stop for a break, refreshments and a look through this unique store.

Quick Tips:

If you wish to bicycle this trail and don't want to bring your own, 'Kickstands Bicyle Rentals and Lunch Shop' located in downtown York, will rent you a bike for the hour or for the day. Be sure to bring plenty of water, especially if it is a warm day.

Best Way To Get Around:

While using this trail I encountered joggers, walkers, bicycles and horseback riders. There is no motorized vehicles allowed.
