Happenin" Moncton!

A travel journal to Moncton by Melodydunn

We often travel to Moncton as it has the feel and sofistication of a larger metropolis. There is a nice mix of interesting and unique people, so if you are a people watcher, come to Moncton!

Moncton, Canada's first officially bilingual city is located at the geographic center of Atlantic Canada and is central to two contrasting coasts; the rugged beauty of the Fundy Coast (home to the highest tides in the world), and the picturesque Acadian Coast (with the warmest saltwater beaches north of Virginia).

Moncton is also the Maritimes' center of attractions, so it's your obvious choice for a docking point for the duration of your visit. Offering a multitude of high quality accommodations ranging from luxury hotels to smaller motels, the city also boasts a variety of restaurants from seafood to tasty Acadian dishes and everything in between.

Quick Tips:

Make sure you have a car as Moncton attractions are quite spread out. Also the french speaking natives of Moncton can come across as rude sometimes, but don't take offense as this is just the way some are.

Best Way To Get Around:

Definately rent a car. Everything is spread out in Moncton.

This is a fun place to visit as the rooms are theme rooms. You can choose from a rock 'n' roll room, a Victorian room, a romance room, library rooms, and the streets of Laredo. What a funky place!!! The room we stayed in was rock 'n' roll themed and it was unreal! '50s-type room with a car bed (pink caddy, I think). There was a juke box and a lot of other Kool Cat things. The rooms were clean. I can't wait to go back and try another theme room.

Hotel | "Howard Johnsons"

We had a nice spacious double room. We had just stayed in a room that we could barely move in so this seemed like a palace. The rooms were clean and we felt cozy. The cleaning staff were quite nice and made our stay better. We really liked the indoor heated pool they have on-site.

Restaurant

Mcginnis Landing is in the Crystal Palace Ramada hotel. The food was good, but a little pricey. They have a full menu listed on the internet if you want to see what they have. The service was fast and friendly, like most other Maritime restaurants.

Restaurant

We liked the fact that the restaurant was a roof top restaurant. This was nice as it gave it a nice atmosphere. The range of items on the menu was good as well, so we had lots to choose from. It was really busy when we were there so service was a bit slow, but I hear it is usually really good. When we got our food, we enjoyed it very much. The prices were a little high for a family though.

Attraction

We spent a fortune here getting enough arcade tickets to buy a large pencil, but we had a blast doing it!! The food is a little expensive, but what amusement park's food isn't? Our kids were entertained the entire day and our baby got lost in the ball pit. It was well worth the money for the memories and video tape.
