Overview

Feel like being home at Royal Reserve. Safari is a must always when you're in Kenya. Try to get in touch with locals. You will be surprised by their friendliness and how they are aware of the world. Take it easy out there: "Hakuna matata" as they say, "no problem".

Quick Tips:

Take as many guided trips as you like. They're all worth it. Safari of course if you don't hate animals. If you don't like to hassle with people, don't walk by yourself outside resort. Otherwise don't be shy, you will get much more than you're giving.

Best Way To Get Around:

We always used resort vehicles. Don't walk by yourself, at least during the evenings.

Best Things Nearby:
City of Mombasa, Tsavo National Park, Bamburi Nature trail, Nakumatt Shopping Centre.

Best Things About the Resort:
Peaceful environment, roomy apartments, friendly and helpful staff.

Resort Experience:
After almost an hour of driving from the airport, it seemed like we were in the middle of nowhere, but it was more like paradise. It was nice to be there off season, with only a few guests and gentle weather. Nobody was burned by the sun!

Cosy air-conditioned apartments in a few three-story buildings. Two very nice pools and bar. Restaurant with a menu from which I could always choose a different dinner. And I did andnd loved them all! Staff were the nicest people I've met in hotels. The only downside to this place was the shore because you can't sunbathe or swim there, partly because of "beach boys", partly because of the sea. But if I visit here again, I'll probably stay at Royal Reserve.

Lion with elephants
Starting the tour at 6am from resort by driving bouncing roads for three hours wasn't actually a good start. But after that, it got better. Once inside the national park, you'll spot all possible animals you can think of. We started with buffalos, zebras, giraffes, and elephants, not forgetting countless herds of antelopes and all kind of birds. After driving for four hours to look for morning game, we were amazed. What is still to come? Then we saw a lionness walking towards a drinking well. After all that, we saw all of the Big Five -- elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, and rhino! Spotting the leopard was very special since I saw it myself behind a stone just beside the road. She was such a beautiful animal. Nevertheless, it was as exciting a moment as when a lonely elephant was standing on the road in front of us. Boy, he seemed mad! Lucky us that he turned away.

You should always remember lodges. They're situated at breathtaking places at the top of the hills and the service is excellent. We spent a night at Ngulia Safari Lodge and you should certainly like to do the same. Besides the wildlife, the scenes all over Tsavo were absolutely wonderful, especially the stunning sunrise.

Safari
Tsavo East, West, Amboselli & Salt Lick Mombasa, Kenya

For the first time for everyone, my family went snorkeling during a daytrip to Malindi. Although it was a bit windy at the time, it was a wonderful experience. The fish almost swim into your mouth and the scenes are so beautiful. Also, it was our first time scuba diving. The people from the diving school were so professional and friendly that we felt as safe as if we were in own pool. We saw lots of fish and we had a few chaotic moments waiting for children to come back.
