Week in Germany

Overview

Quote:
Mitterfels is a beautiful small town that is located within an easy driving distance to many other locations for day trips. Straubing is a nice city, and it’s very good for grocery shopping, banking, etc. Elisabethszell is a cute little town, with "The Singing Innkeeper," Singender Wirt at the Hotel Mariandl. We would go there in the evening for a beer and the entertainment. It was wonderful. We would highly recommend it. Steinberg is a good restaurant. These were very close together. Then we took a day trip to Passau on the Danube, which was beautiful. We also took a day trip to Salzburg and the Austrian Alps. We took a day trip to Arnbruck to the Weinfurtner Das ...Read More

Best Things Nearby:So many. The Bavarian Forest and walking paths. Metten a Benedictin Monastery. Arnbruck Glass Blowing -- wonderful shopping (china and porcelain). Passau (50 minutes to the Austrian border), Straubing, Salzburg, we loved sitting on the platz's eating, drinking and people-watching. Reggensburg, Nurnberg, the Romantic Road, Stuttgart, and Deggendorf, etc. Castles and cathedrals galore. But the countryside is what we loved and the people.Best Things About the Resort:Beautifully decorated. Very friendly and helpful people. Tennis court, swimming pool, restaurant, etc. I loved cooking in the kitchen and eating on the patio. Very clean.Resort Experience...Read More

Wonderful. They had a nice selection of beer and wine. Nice atmosphere. Family owned. Salad bar, good selection of very tasty entrees. The German sauces were very good.

Wonderful. I had pork slices, dumpling, and kraut -- the sauce overall was wonderful. A good selection of entrees and specials. A good selection of wine and beer. We sat outside on the patio and was a beautiful view. It is a very small town -- there is a roundabout to your left and lots of German countryside surrounding you.
