Orlando at Bryan's Spanish Cove

A July 2003 trip to Orlando by crltrp

Great destination even if you don't go to Walt Disney World. Spent the week swimming, seeing Universal Studios and Islands of Adventure. Kids had a blast and were exhausted by week's end.

Best Things Nearby:
Walt Disney World is very close, Sea World and Universal are somewhat close.

Best Things About the Resort:
You can have access to a small waterpark-like pool at an affiliated resort -- The Liki-Tiki. We went two days and the kids had a blast. It costs $5.33 for a family of six. If you have younger children, this is a great option instead of the larger waterparks. They had five slides and a mini wave pool.

Resort Experience:
The room was nice, although we were on the end and there was road noise. The resort is very small, but the condos are not.

The pool was fine, but nothing to write home about. It is on a lake and they have boats that you can take out on the lake.

Kids love this place. We joined their club and have received immmediate seating every time we go, plus 10% off of our bill. Portion sizes are large, so go hungry.

Also, we've tried the Rainforest Cafe in Chicago and it wasn't very good. This location seems to be consistently good, as well as the one at Animal Kingdom.

Universal Studios FloridaBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Universal Studios Florida- Part I"

Just a tip for those of you that travel to Florida every year, buy the annual pass and use it two years. We bought the limited access passes for $99, which meant we couldn't go on Saturday and Sunday (which was fine with us). We went about eight times between this vacation and last year's vacation. It's nice to be able to go for a few hours at a time, especially with small children. If you want to see the Shrek movie, get there early (before 10 am), otherwise you will wait two hours to see it. The Express Passes for this attraction are gone by 10:30 am.
