I can't say enough about Bestebakken. This is definitely the most charming place I've ever stayed in.
When we arrived, Lindis, the owner, greeted us with peach iced tea and cake. She told us all about the house, gave us a tour, and told us what we could do in the area. I liked her immediately due to her friendly smile and giving nature.
Being 11 women, we had the entire house to ourselves. Every room was different but equally beautiful-some had queen size beds and others had 2-3 twin beds. It was soooo relaxing to sit in the chaise lounge and look through Lindis' many cookbooks and gardening books.
The food was very good and Lindis was very flexible with meal times. At all meals, we sat around the table like one big family, talking about what we had experienced that day or making plans for the next activity. We also got to taste much of the food made locally, such as different kinds of jams and cheeses.
And last but not least, we enjoyed the hot tub. We were out there in the hot tub until 2am. Fun and relaxing with a glass of red wine and great company.
Lindis was also very good at giving us tips on where we could go hiking, which included our trip to the glacier and the visit with the local farmer for coffee and cake.
