Spoiled in Cabo

A November 1998 trip to San Jose del Cabo by davilin88

Spoiled in Cabo

Overview

Quote:
On our first trip to Mexico, my wife and I traded our recently purchased week at Lake Tahoe for a week at the Worldmark Coral Baja at San Jose del Cabo. The room was beautiful with a view of the (nonswimmable) beach. We were just in time for happy hour and quickly found a stool at the swim up bar at one end of the cross shaped pool. Dinner that night at the on-site restaurant, Mama Mia's, was excellent. Though the beach was not for swimming, it was a short walk to Play Azul, which is swimmable and surfable. A week of margaritas at the marina in Cabo San Lucas, snorkeling at Bahia Santa Maria, lounging on Playa de Amor,(Lover's Beach), and some of the friendliest people and most beautiful scenery ...Read More

Best Things Nearby:Playa Azul (known by the surfers as "Zippers"), is an easy walk up the beach, the trailer park restaurant, actually in a trailer park, San Jose del Cabo, a cozier and more laid back alternative to Cabo San Lucas.Best Things About the Resort:Very clean, spacious units. Friendly staff. Good seafood restaurant on site, Mama Mia's. Lush landscaping. The beach, though unswimmable, is great for walking. The pool has a swim up bar (we arrived just in time for happy hour), and two spas. The concierge is very helpful.Resort Experience: This was our first timeshare experience, having recently bought our unit at Lake Tahoe. Of course the salesman at Ta...Read More

This restaurant is actually located in a trailer park. It is open to the tropical sea air, very ambient, and the food is very good. The night we went the sea bass with chipotle sauce was outstanding.

The dining area is in a large thatched palapa on the beach. The three nights we dined here a Latin jazz trio set just the right tone for a romantic tropical evening. Friday night is bbq night and the grilled lobster was incredible. Thursday is the Mexican fiesta and buffet.

Pez Gato Sailing Catamaran and Snorkeling Cruise

Attraction | "Snorkel cruise"

Quote:
Leaving the marina aboard the catamaran "Pez Gato," you get a terrific view of the town set against the desert scenery, then turn south toward Bahia Santa Maria and cruise along the beautiful Sea of Cortez coast. It isn't long before the margaritas start flowing, though they take it fairly easy on the way to the snorkel site, only two or three each. Bahia Santa Maria is a gorgeous half-moon bay with a wide beach and still, crystal-clear water. There is also a small coral reef, and taking the plunge, you find yourself surrounded by countless brightly colored tropical fish. The water is warm and it is easy to stay in for an hour or more, but then you are called back to the boat for the rest of the cruis...Read More
