Lanzatote - Puerto Del Carmen

A June 2003 trip to Lanzarote by edmoraz

Quote: Puerto del Carmen is the largest rezort on Lanzarote. It is suitable for young couples and groups of young people. Because of its hilly aspect, it is not suitable for those with walking difficulties or families with young children.

Diamond Las Calas

Hotel | "Diamond Las Callas 2"

These can be booked on the net for around £300 per week. They are way off the beaten track at the top of a steepish hill. The apartments are clean and tidy and well equipped. The pool area, however, is very enclosed, so if you like privacy, this is a no go.

In the day for a quick snack when coming off the beach, this is the place to go. A large beer in a frozen glass is 1.95 euro and a prawn sandwich is under 3 euro and worth every penny. In the evening, the food is well presented (often cooked at the table) and very reasonably priced -- for example, fillet steak and all the trimmings is under 8 euro. The staff are friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed. Well worth a visit.

Cannal Travel

Story/Tip

Quote:
The queues for taxis are massive on a Thursday. We booked with Cannal Travel (we found them on the web). They charged £36 return and sent a mini bus with air-conditioning for the two of us. The service was brilliant. If you hate queues and want exec treatment, use this company.
