Quick Stop in Chicago

A July 2003 trip to Chicago by amkramer

Chicago, a quick hop from Cleveland for food and fun!

Chicago is a great city! There is so much to do, you almost have to go a few times a year. The Art Institute, Field Museum, and Aquarium are impressive cultural stops. I enjoy the shopping on Michigan Avenue, especially at Christmas time.

Quick Tips:

I always fly into either Midway or O'Hare and take the train into the city. For .50, it beats fighting Chicago traffic.

Best Way To Get Around:

The train system is great. I have to admit, I have not tried the bus system yet . . . but I hear it is also a great way to get around.

The Grand Luxe, located above the Ann Taylor store on Michigan Avenue in Chicago, is a fantastic stop for unique takes on classic American entrees. I enjoyed the Barbacoa mahimahi. The sweet potatoes were fantastic! Do not leave the Grand Luxe without ordering the Molten Chocolate Cake! You won't be sorry, just save room. I couldn't put my fork down!! Enjoy!

The Art Institute is a beautiful building housing a wonderful collection of art and sculpture. I love the gift shop too! I recommend that you check there website in advance to check on special exhibits.
