Number one rule with real estate is location, location, location. Delray Beach has a 5-star rating for a great address.

Sunset
The Arthur Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Park is in the Northern most part of the Everglades just west of Delray Beach. It is a must see. You can get a glimpse of the Everglades without driving far. You are sure to spot an alligator or two as well as other various types of wildlife.

A drive up the cost will take you to Palm Beach which has been featured on many travel channels as the home of the "rich and famous." Worth Avenue is known as the Rodeo Drive of the East.

Further north, you will find the Juno Beach Park Fishing Pier where you can admire the sunset and watch the pelicans waiting for the fisherman to throw scraps. Or if fishing is up your alley, join in! The beaches in this area are very rocky and not nearly as nice as they are in Delray!

Quick Tips:

Bring your sunscreen -- even in the winter, you can get burned very easily. If you plan to leave the car behind, get your groceries before you arrive.

Best Way To Get Around:

If you want to just hang at the beach and do some shopping and dining in the local stores, you can walk. If you want to tour the area and take in sights, a car is needed.

Best Things Nearby:
The beach is right across the street. Downtown Delray is only a block or so away. Great location to get out and walk along A1A (the costal highway). Minutes from Palm Beach and Boca Raton. Arthur Matshall Loxahatchee Everglades Park is close and very worth the visit.

Best Things About the Resort:
The location is fantastic! What a great town. Nice courtyard area to eat and grill out.

Resort Experience:
I was shocked when I first got there as the photo in the guidebook looks SO much better than the actual resort. But I have come to expect a lower quality resort at the beach. This is an older property that looks more like a motel.

The room at first was a disappointment, but actually it was very functional. We ate most of our meals outside in the courtyard and drank our morning coffee in the chairs in front of our unit. The pool is located down behind the buildings, so you have no noise from the pool! The units were sparse with a sofa, chair and coffee table. There was a dishwasher in the unit, but we did not have a washer/dryer. The kitchen was a small galley-style kitchen.

Since you can walk to the beach and downtown Delray, you could leave your car parked for a few days. I was there with one other person and it was fine. I think you would feel crowded with older children. I would go back because of the location.

This water park has something for everyone. They have a waterfall that the kids love to stand under and get wet. They also have twin water slides that both begin and end in the same location. They have a large play structure with balance activities as well as climbing. My favorite part is the Meandering River. It is a "river" that snakes around the water park. There is a steady current that pulls you around. You can either swim with it or hop on a tube and float around. The only bad part is after a FULL day you go back to your vacation house and lay down and the bed feels like it is floating. Also, don't forget the sunscreen! You do not realize how much sun you get!

The park is closed from September 2-December 31 and open only on the weekends in spring and fall.
