Acapulco has aged gracefully over the years and remains a good place for some R&R.

Shotover Jet
Acapulco is not for ecotourists or Peace Corp volunteers. It's a place for those who want to have dinner at midnight, dance until dawn and sleep all day on the beach. Acapulco has seen its better days, but it still remains the grand dame of resorts in Mexico. Acapulco is an aging DIVA!

Quick Tips:

If sleeping all day isn't your idea of a vacation and you're hungry for adventure, Acapulco has many extreme sports to enjoy. Everything from bunge jumping, high speed shotover jets, para-sailing, scuba, swimiing with dolphins can be found here.

Best Way To Get Around:

Sunset at Segovia
The house was something out of 'Lifestyles of the Rich & Famous.' It was beautiful and a perfect way to greet our 30 wedding guests who were traveling in from all over the world. Honestly, I think I left the house maybe a handful of times during the week I was there. There was no reason to leave -- we had an amazing cook, an attentive house staff and everything under the glorius Acapulco sun. It was truly amazing.

We rented the house through Se Renta Agency. You can find them on the web at www.serenta.com.

Everything went very smoothly.

Quinta Real AcapulcoBest of IgoUgo

Hotel | "Quinta Real"

Suite's private sitting pool
The Quinta Real is the newest and hotest hotel in Acapulco (not to mention rather expensive.) We spent our wedding night in a suite. The hotel management had arranged a very detailed arrangement of flowers and tissue on our bed congratulating us on our marriage, as well as a bottle of champagne and strawberries. We had a private (but very small) pool, a huge private patio for sunbathing, and a beautiful ocean view. It was an amazing place and I would return in an instant!!!

Attraction | "Bar Hopping"

Club Scene
The bars vary from high-end to dives in Acapulco, each one having it's own charm. The high-end bars tend to be very expensive ($25 to get in drink all night). Other's are unbelievably cheap. Overall, if you're over 30, you may feel like a has-been since all I saw were teenagers at most of the night spots. Nonetheless, it's worth a venture or two.

Attraction | "Massage at the Villa"

Table masage
Can we say decadent!!! We had daily massages at the villa. They were an hour long, $30, and they came to you. I think I had one almost every day and I must say they were among some of the best I've ever had.

Chapel of Peace (de la Paz)Best of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Chapel of Peace"

Our wedding ceremony
The towering cross that hovers over the chapel can be seen almost anywhere in Acapulco. This amazing church is where I was married last July. It turned out to be everything I hoped it to be. Anyone wanting additional info on getting married here, just let me know. It was actually rather easy and smooth -- not a lot of red tape like some countries.
