Melbourne in a thimble

A June 2003 trip to Melbourne by caracat

Quote: With cheap airfares, a trip to Melbourne was an affordable treat. We left on Friday and returned on Sunday and in that short time saw some wildlife and enjoyed several good meals.

Great day out and easy to reach from the city via tram, which stops right outside of the zoo. It's a well set out zoo in as natural surroundings as possible. Great elephant and gorilla display, walk thru butterfly house, and walkway over the big cats. Lots of picnic and barbecue areas, some under shelter for bad weather. These can be reserved in advance.
