What to do in Shreveport

Overview

Quote:
If you have active kids, Sci Port is a must! If you love to gamble, hit the boats. If you like to eat, we have a bunch of great restaurants around here!

Quick Tips:

Don't forget that there is a whole other city past the river called Bossier! Check it out also!

Best Way To Get Around:

Car is the best way to get around town. If you are going to be hanging around by the river district, your best bet is to park at one of the free casino garages and walk the downtown area.

Trejo's is a local restaurant started by three brothers from Mexico. The food is wonderful! Every meal starts with unlimited chips and great salsa. Many people order queso for an appetizer, but I find that the chips and salsa are plenty!! They have great fajitas and the enchiladas are amazing! The plate I get comes with two enchiladas, rice, and beans. Along with the chips and salsa, that is enough for me, but in case you're still hungry, they have soapapillas and some other traditional Mexican desserts! By far, my favorite place to eat in Shreveport!

Podnuh's Bar-B-Q

Restaurant

Quote:
Podnuh's Bar-B-Q is a great restaurant to eat at when you are out and about. They have great sausage and brisket. They are reasonably priced. They have many lunch options, ranging in price from around $4.50-6. The plates include a main dish like sausage or brisket sandwich, two sides, and bread. I have never finished my entire plate! It is an assembly line -- they serve you the meat and bread, you get the sides yourself. The décor of the place is great! Very country! Wooden items, bandanas -– very fun place to eat! Food and service is always wonderful! If you would rather get it to go, they have great specials that serve anywhere from 4-20 people. They give you everything you need,...Read More

Sci Port Discovery Center is a great place to take the kids to have fun and learn! All activities are hands on and very child friendly. They can do things like pretend they’re a captain of a steam boat, ride a stationary bike to produce electricity and light up light bulbs. You could easily spend the day looking and playing with all the exhibits, and the parents can have as much fun as the kids! Within Sci Port, is Shreveport's only Imax Theater. Here you can catch a movie where you’ll go flying over the mountains without leaving your theater seat! They also have a gift shop and an eating area, which serves up things like nachos, hamburgers, drinks, and chips. This would be a great day for everyone! ...Read More

Hollywood Casino & Resort Hotel

Attraction | "Hollywood Casino"

Quote:
Great entertainment for an evening. Hollywood Casino is the newest casino in Shreveport, making it the one that smells least like smoke! This is a great casino to go to if you are going to have people who do not want to gamble. There are things to walk around and look at and nice places to eat. The parking garage is free and has a walkway to the casino so you don't have to run across the busy street! You must be 21 to get into any one of the three floors of gambling, but under-21s can eat in the restaurants. Good idea: only take in cash what you're willing to lose! Leave your plastic at home!

Funny Bone

Attraction | "Funnybone Comedy Club"

Quote:
The Funnybone is located in the Red River District by the casinos. Parking is free if you park in a casino garage. Get to the show ahead of time, reservations are recommended.

The night we went, there were a couple short acts and then the main act. All three were funny. The main act was a guy that I saw on Comedy Central a few weeks later. The drinks were reasonably priced for a comedy club. Sometimes they give great deals. Shows are only at night. Call ahead and see what deals they have going on. Tel: 318-221-4290.
