A July 2003 trip
to Palm Beach by lisa marie
Quote: We spent a fun filled week at Palm Beach Shores Resort and enjoyed the resort and the surroundings.
We had a one bedroom for four and we ordered a roll-away bed for our son. The space was tight with two adults and three kids. Although the kitchen was ample, there were NO extra plates, etc. The unit was for four and we had to improvise with the kitchen plates, cups, etc. Again this was not a big problem. I was able to peek into another unit at the corner, and it was much larger, but did not have the view we had. We were on the right side of the building on the fifth floor with a partial view of the ocean which was lovely. There are two chairs on the balcony and it was nice to sit out and look at the ocean.
However, we were above the parking lot and were awoken almost every morning with the noise in the lot below. The workers and sales people arrive and park or meet in that lot, and that was very annoying.
Others have commented on the sales pitches and they were neverending!!! Every day at the pool and beach, we saw dozens of salespeople trying to sell the units. Also, at breakfast, most of the tables were taken with salespeople and their customers. Although we were able to avoid the sales pitch by not returning the DAILY calls, we found the constant parade of salespeople annoying.
As for the amenities: there is a limited salon on site and we really enjoyed the treatments offered. Massage, body and face treatments, manicures, and pedicures are all offered by this outside vendor. The woman making the appointments was exceptionally lovely to deal with and very accommodating to our timing.
One important item I have to mention is the location. The resort is on the beach in a lovely neighborhood, however, just over the intercoastal waterway is a "not so nice" neighborhood. On the news, I saw there was a murder one night and was told that there is a murder almost daily there. So just be careful. In fact the RCI directions take you out of the way to get to the resort, just to avoid cutting through this neighborhood. We, however, did not follow the RCI directions and did just fine cutting throught this neighborhood during the day to get to I-95.
As for the parking, there is a charge of $5 per day, NO exceptions, and $1 for safe rental, NO exceptions. This is ridiculous!!!!!! The valet service is nice and the boys getting the cars are quick, but it is unnecessary.
This could be either a family or a couples resort. The pool area has a tiki bar and entertainments daily, as well as kids activities, and a women doing hair braiding.
I would definitely return to this resort, so would my husband and kids!!!
