Commotion by the ocean

A June 2003 trip to Carlsbad by roxdog

The Carlsbad Inn Beach Resort is located just a few steps from the beach. It was a wonderful vacation experience. This is a coastal village with many resturants withen walking distance from the resort.

There are many amusement parks withen easy driving distance from the resort. Lego Land is only three miles away. The San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park, Sea World are just 30 miles away. California Adventure, Disneyland, and Knotts Berry Farm are only 60 miles away. The kids loved their time at Disneyland and California adventure. We also went to the Del Mar fair, which was very nice.

One of my fondest memories was having coffee in the morning on the terrace overlooking the ocean. This was very relaxing for me. Also getting up at 6am one morning and walking down to the beach and collecting shells with my daughter. We also made sand castles together. I don't think I have played in the sand for over 25 years. We had a great time, there are way too many thing for me to mention. I would recomend this trip to all because it had as much to do or not to do as you will ever need.

Quick Tips:

The Mexican restaurant on site for Happy Hour drinks and the appetizer platter is wonderful for under . The Harbor house restaurant has the best fish and chips in town and is less than a block away, overlooking the ocean.

Best Way To Get Around:

You will need a car to get to any of the amusement parks, but you are within walking distance from many fine restaurants and boutiques. The Harbor House and the Mexican resturant on site are a couple of our favorites. You must also go to the Cold Stone, located a block away, for dessert.

Best Things Nearby:
The beach, resturants, and amusement parks. We enjoyed all three when we stayed. There are many nice casual resturants withen walking distance from the resort. Fidel's restaurant and Harbor Fish are my personal favorites.

Best Things About the Resort:
Location, of course -- this resort is located just steps away from the beach. They have a cabana located on the sand where beach chairs, umbrellas, boogie boards, and sand toys all can be checked out by guests of this resort at no additional cost. It is so wonderful not have to lug all that stuff to the beach. Just grab your ice chest and enjoy the fun in the sun.

The units are very will keeped and stocked very nice. The flowers and the grounds are well manicured. The service of the staff was exceptional. I loved it and so did the rest of my family.

Resort Experience:
Heaven!!! I would get up in the morning and enjoy my coffee on the terrace overlooking the ocean. There are so many activities put on by the staff to keep you and the kids very busy if you want to be, or you can just relax. We did both. The activities are reasonably priced, many of them free. Have fun!!!!

The food was good and moderately priced. We enjoyed lunch there on the patio overlooking the pool and courtyard. The hot tip on this resturant is that a great sampler plate that normally sells for $11 is discounted during happy hour to $5.75. With a couple of drinks, it made a nice meal for the wife and I.

This place was great. The food was priced right and was extremely good. This is an open-air resturant overlooking the beach that stays prety busy all afternoon. You can expect a short wait to be seated, but I thought it was worth the wait.
