Lazing around McCall, Idaho

A July 2001 trip to McCall by ADiane

When friends of ours headed to their family's place in McCall, we decided to trade our timeshare to spend some time with them.

Best Things Nearby:
Lake, movie theater, bike trails

Best Things About the Resort:
Indoor pool (even in July!)

Resort Experience:
WorldMark is just about 2 minutes from downtown McCall (and it's not much of a downtown). The resort itself looked like it was not quite completed--there were piles and dirt and building materials around our unit. Not sure if they're going to finish it or not. We never tried the outdoor pool. Even though it was July, my kids were much happier in the indoor pool (and so were other guests). It was a nice pool and the kids got to bring in all the 'floaty' toys they wanted. There were really nice bike trails throughout the resort and into the surrounding neighborhoods--the kids and I brought our bikes and had a good time riding around.

The lake was too cold for me, but my kids loved it. There were places in town where you could rent all sorts of boats and watercraft. Also, the resort is pretty near to the movie theater so we took in a flick one night.

The unit was nice--very woodsy (dark wood, dark upholstery). We had a BBQ on our back deck and made use of that a lot. We made the mistake of leaving our shoes out on the front porch one night. I awoke to a big racket by the front door. The next morning, one of my husband's shoes was half way down the steps and the other was never found. We blamed it on the racoons. There wasn't much else to do there.

Attraction

We went to a small beach park on the southeast side of the lake. It was nice and not very crowded. The lake was calm and you could walk out a long ways before it became deep. The kids loved it--too cold for me!
