Overview

Cruise Buddies
This was our first stay in The Bahamas. We had an incredible time and would recommend an island vacation as a great means of stress relief from your everyday life. The people were exceptionally friendly and polite, everyone from the customs agents to the taxi drivers. As with any island living, costs are higher than normal and the Bahamas are expensive for sure. To alleviate the expense, we stayed at an all-inclusive resort and enjoyed every minute.

Quick Tips:

We would have done one thing differently. Instead of flying to Florida and taking a day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale, we would have preferred flying directly to the Bahamas to enjoy the extra time on the beach. The cruise was a glorified water taxi to the islands, a money siphon with a casino and meager buffet. I felt that we wasted 8 hours on each leg of the cruise, 16 hours better spent on the island.

Best Way To Get Around:

Having discovered in advance that cab fare to our resort was around , we partnered with three other couples that we met on the day cruise from Ft. Lauderdale and split the fare for a van. At a couple, we saved significantly. Aside from that, we spent our time at the resort soaking in the sun and fun.

Despite our preference to try blending in with the locals while vacationing, we chose an all-inclusive resort as this was our first time to the Caribbean. We were pleasantly surprised and definitely got our money’s worth!

The food was buffet style in the general restaurant for all meals and a la carte for the reserved dining room for dinner only. Although the food was superb in the reserved dining room, the buffet restaurant rivaled its counterpart with sophisticated entrees and gourmet deserts without the required reservation. All drinks including alcohol were complimentary as were all non-motorized activities (i.e. snorkeling, kayaking, archery, etc.).

There were nightly cabaret-style shows that were quite entertaining performed by the resort staff.

The rooms, cabana-style with stucco and tile decor, were quite comfortable and clean and each had a private balcony complete with patio furniture. We did not spend any additional money once arriving at the resort. We would highly recommend this accommodation.
