Honeymoon in paradise

A February 2003 trip to Nuevo Vallarta by debbri

The Mayan Palace in Nuevo Vallarta is paradise. The Sierra Madre Mountains are to one side and the beautiful ocean to the other. The resort itself is immaculate, the landscaping luscious, the pool (the largest in Latin America) is indescribable, and the beach is spacious.

Attraction

What a romantic evening! Las Caletas can only be reached by boat. There is no electricity, so the entire evening is spent lit by tiki lights and candles.

Upon arriving at the beach, you are led to your private table alongside the water. Drinks, alcoholic or not, are included, and the buffet style dinner is served right on the beach. As you eat by candlelight, the sounds of the water lapping up on the beach provides a very romantic setting.

After dinner, the group is led to a small outdoor arena for the "play," which is a reenactment of an Indian folk story.
