Puerto Vallarta with Family

This was my family's first trip to Mexico. One of the many memorable experiences we had was being able to play, dine and sunbathe on Playa Las Animas for a half a day. To get to this beach you had to do a day cruise on the Santa Maria. An enjoyable experience as long as your not a person who has motion sickness. The ride can get to feel a little choppy. Halfway through the day cruise before you reached Las Animas, there is a stop at some rock and cave formations in the middle of the ocean called Los Arcos -- here you could snorkel for 30 minutes if you wanted, but it was completely optional. For example, we drove by the location where Richard Burton filmed Night of the Iguana several years ago, way before Puerto Vallarta became a popular travel destination. We also went to the location in the jungle where Arnold Schwarzenegger filmed the movie Predator. The bus that drove us through the jungle and into the mountains was comfortable, clean and air-conditioned, a nice retreat to get back into after we got out and hiked around a bit in the very humid Vallarta weather. A tour of a tequila factory was also included on this day tour. The highlight here was being able to buy the 100% pure tequila from this factory after we were ex...Read More
