We spent a week at Angels Camp. Our daughter and son-in-law flew in from Seattle and joined us. The accommodations were comfortable and we had a spectacular view overlooking the golf course and the mountains.
The location of the timeshare afforded us opportunities to sightsee in Yosemite, Big State Trees Park, San Francisco, plus the small quaint towns of Murphy's, Arnold, etc.
Murphy's has many quaint shops with unique items. Outside of town is the Ironstone Wine Vineyards. Besides enjoying the tour of the winery and free sampling of the wines, we enjoyed their spectacular botanical gardens. Inside is housed a 44lb. of crystal and gold nugget worth .5 million.
The weather was unusually cool for that time of year (30s and 40s) and snow fell in Arnold and Tahoe while we were there.
Quick Tips:
Angels Camp is the home of Mark Twain and the Calaveras Jumping Frog contests. The businesses compete in decorating frogs which are displayed outside in front of the stores. They are uniquely decorated. Visit the Chamber to get good info on things happening in the area and discount coupons for eateries etc.
We enjoyed the food in the diner in Angels Camp for breakfast. A good place to eat is the Palace Hotel in Murphy's. The unit we stayed in had a gas grill on the balcony which we used a lot.
Best Way To Get Around:
We flew into the airport in Sacramento. We spent the night so as to sightsee the next day and then drove into Angels Camp, about 45 minutes. We did a walking tour of Olde Towne in Sacramento. San Francisco is about two hours from the timeshare, so it is also a good side trip. We took a Grayline city bus tour which was very informative and covered the highlights of all the historical sights and areas of the city.
Yosemite is a full day driving tour but well worth doing. A shorter trip not far from the timeshare is the Big Trees State Park. It has spectacular redwoods, not to be missed.
