Girls weekend in Vegas

A March 2003 trip to Las Vegas by celtgirls

Quote: Vegas is our favorite destination to date. As best friends, it's our treat to ourselves to have a girls weekend in Vegas twice a year.

Girls weekend in Vegas

Overview

Quote:
On a girls weekend in Vegas the best things to do include going to a spa for a massage and some aromatherapy, taking in a show or two, and making sure to not miss out on the Thunder From Down Under currently housed at Excalibur. We also never miss the pirate battle at Treasure Island, although it will be closing in July for a bit of rewriting and recasting, to open again in October.Quick Tips: We usually try to avoid the hot summer months, that would be the end of June through the end of August. The heat may be dry but because it is, it is very easy to become dehydrated. Make sure to take along the sunscreen, all year long, and it's best if you have a way to carry water with you rather than h...Read More

New York New York Hotel & Casino

Once you've stayed in a casino, an impression is made and one might assume that all casinos are the same. Not so with NYNY. From the moment we checked in to the moment we checked out, the staff was extremely friendly and the room was prestine.

Maid staff in the other casinos, when you see them in the hall, don't acknowledge that you are walking past. However, the maid staff at NYNY will greet you with a smile and ask how your stay has been so far, if there is anything they can get for you. It was a pleasant change of pace and one of the main reasons that we would return to this establishment. After all, I could sleep anywhere, but I'll go where I feel appreciated.

Buccaneer Bay Club

We treated ourselves to this restaurant because we had heard about it from other Vegas visitors. The ambiance was lovely. It would lend itself to a large party or to an intimate dinner for two. The staff is impeccably dressed from the water server to the waiter, and each if extremely polite. The waiter suggested that we place our dessert order with our dinner order (we were getting one of their signature souffles) so that it would be ready about the time we would be done eating. The food was presented beautifully, and melted in our mouths it was so tender. If you time your reservation just right, you also have an excellent view of the pirate battle, a vantage point that most people don't ...Read More

Tournament of Kings

Restaurant

Quote:
This is a dinner show that shows nightly at Excalibur. Tickets are $41.95 (tip included) plus taxes. The show features jousting, an invading army, a dragon, pyrotechniques and of course the dinner. Dinner is a bowl of soup, a roasted guinea hen, half of a baked potato, steamed vegetables, a roll, an apple tart for dessert, and two beverage servings (tea or Pepsi). The theme is Renaissance, so there is no tableware -- you eat with your hands while you enjoy the show. The wait staff will also serve bar beverages, but they are not included in the ticket price. The dinner show runs about 90 minutes and is well worth the cost. I've seen it several times, the food is very tasty, one of the best barga...Read More

"O" by Cirque Du Soleil

Attraction | ""O" at the Bellagio"

Quote:
The Cirque du Soleil has wonderful shows. Currently they have two housed permanently in Vegas (a third will open shortly). Unlike the other Cirque du Soleil shows, "O" is a circus performed in, on, and around water. The performers are dressed in mystical/magical costumes and perform wonderous feats from flying off the top of the of a pendulum swing into a 1.5 million gallon pool of water to the huge sky ship of acrobats. You will stay continually amazed. The show is a 90-minute journey of the imagination.

Unlike a typical night of male dancers, the men in this troup make every woman in the room feel as if they are being danced to personally. The troup does not accept "tips", no stuffing of dollar bills in these boys g-strings. They even make the statement that since the audience has paid to see a show, they will give the best show they can, and boy, how they give a show. The dancers interact with the audience which creates an intimate feeling, even though there are 200 or so other women in the room. But this also puts a few of the women in VERY close interaction with a single dancer. Be prepared to be in the spotlight because there is no telling who will get selected for a one on one dance. Bonnie Springs Ranch

Best Of IgoUgo

Attraction

Quote:
Open from 10am to dusk, the zoo began as housing for injured or abandoned animals that showed up on the ranch where there was plenty of space to build sturdy outdoor cages and enclosures. The resulting compound includes an aviary; the main zoo; and a petting zoo where visitors may feed and pet several gentle species of deer, sheep and goats. Waterfowl cruise a large pond past the windows of the restaurant, delighting diners. The restaurant and adjacent bar open at 8am and close at 11pm. The down-home decor displays tongue-in-cheek humor. Menus for hearty American-style fare appear as labels on whiskey bottles. Currency once papered the walls and ceiling of the bar, left as calling cards by patr...Read More
