Yosemite valley is a must see while visiting Bass Lake, it's about an hour away. We toured the area on our own but they do offer a tram tour of the valley's highlights with stops for photos and lunch. The Mariposa Grove is the location of the "big trees" in this area and the tram ride is well worth the ticket price as well as a ride on the Sugar Pine Railway. These are just a few inexpensive, informative, narrated excursions for kids of all ages!
Take your time and enjoy the natural wonders you'll be surrounded in. At Bass Lake itself you can partake in various adventures such as a leisurely hike or bike ride around the lake. Friday night Jazz at Duceys. The Bass Lake queen offers a narrated tour of the lake with insights and views you just can't get from the shore. Of course there is kayaking, jet skiing, and waterskiiing but we are more the fishing type so in addition to dropping a line or two or three in Bass Lake itself we also ventured over to Manzaneta Lake (very nearby), which is also a "stocked" lake and we were rewarded with a load of rainbow trout. Yummy! We will revisit this location.
Quick Tips:
Wine tasting on the Madera Wine Trail looked like fun but not in the cards for us this trip with our six-month-old along, but an option for those who enjoy the fruits of the vine. Also nearby Oakdale offers many agri tours and learning experiences such as how cheese is made and how ice cream is made. Great apple pie and then there is the Hershey visitor center, which is sure to please the chocoholic in us all.
Best Way To Get Around:
Have car, will travel!
