Disney World

We chose a neat room with a "Kidsuite" which meant that in addition to the regular bedroom and bath area, there was a separate themed kids "room within a room" -- including bunkbeds plus an extra regular twin bed, a TV and VCR, our Kidsuite has a "castle" theme to it -- my son loved it and the extra bed in there was nice for me to sit in there and read to him until he was ready to be left alone. Also, the hotel has an on-site kids club, which we used for a few hours of babysitting. There's a mini movie theater and arcade too, plus a convenience store for snacks and necessities.

Best Things Nearby:
Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Childrens Science Museum, near to the major roads.

Best Things About the Resort:
The quality of the furnishings and the atttention to detail, outside and inside.

Resort Experience:
Very nice for a family -- graciously decorated, spacious. All sorts of amenities including a full kitchenette with dishwasher and microwave, several TVs and VCRs, a large whirlpool in the master suite.

Resort had great pools with lots of children's areas and an on-site kids club. Crib and highchair were provided.

A great time! This was colonial-style dining with period-attired Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, and several other characters. We went in the pouring rain and the restaurant was pretty empty, which meant lots of time with each character at our table. The food was very good -- roast beef, ham, potatoes, etc., and the desserts (while an extra cost) were to-die-for, especially the bread pudding.

The service was very friendly and fairly fast, by Disney standards. We didn't have reservations that night (we were supposed to go the next night, but a downpour while we were standing in front of the restaurant caused the plan to change), but we had a minimal wait.

What a fun place! Wild West/cowboy theme. Mostly barbecue type food with sizzling combo platters. And a hilarious waitstaff who have microphones and keep you entertained with everything from stickhorse races to sending all the kids in the restaurant running with their ketchup bottles (red and green) to tables who have none. My son said he was cold and they brought him a full bed sized velour blanket from the lodge to warp up in while he ate. Lincoln logs to play with while you wait for your table, bandanas to wear -- they think of everything. And the food was good too.

Upscale seafood in a lovely environment, right along a boardwalk filled with galleries, street musicians and other acts, quaint stores, etc. The seafood was delicious -- and very creative in presentation and flavor. This was our one meal away from the kids (thanks Grandma) and it was delightful.

I always wanted to eat at Alfredo's when I went to EPCOT as a kid and now I have.

It was good, not as fabulous as I'd hoped, but definitely good. Very authentic Italian menu, but prices are very high. Very good service and beautiful atmosphere, but I have to say I don't remember what I ate except for a delicious appetizer of the signature Fettucine Alfredo.

Lots of fun with Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Daisy, and the gang! Buffet-style dinner and dessert bar, which included cookies, cakes, and build-your-own ice cream sundaes.

The food was pretty good (yummy parmesan mashed potatoes), but it was really more about atmosphere -- the music and the characters. Lots of photo ops for sure!

We went the first night of our trip, sort of as a "welcome to Disney" experience.

There was a short wait even with our priority seating, but from the waiting area you can see and hear the characters' antics, so it didn't seem bad at all.

If you've ever dreamed of going inside Cinderella's castle and/or having a meal with the Disney Princesses, this is for you. Otherwise, it's just a very nice (but pricey) breakfast with a great view. I'd always wanted to go inside, so for me this was very special.

Breakfast is plated -- I think you have a choice of two entrees -- and includes good orange juice, croissants and muffins (including chocolate), fresh fruit, and coffee/milk/tea. You can ask for more of anything without extra charge, but with kids itching to get off to see the rides, we pretty much just ate what initially was served.

The food was good, the characters were fun, but in high demand, so you only got a bit of time with each, and there was a hefty wait even with the obligatory and very hard to obtain priority seating.
