Tiger Run Tours:
We rode four-wheelers through part of the Rocky Mountains and had the time of our life! Tiger Run Tours is located in Breckenridge and also does snowmobiling, hummer tours and Jeep tours!

Quick Tips:

Pick up a copy of the free Summit newspaper. It was full of local events, coupons, and more!

Best Way To Get Around:

Rent a car -- otherwise, you are the mercy of the guided tours to pick you up. We really didn't see too many taxis about either.
Rooms were very nice and, for the most part, very well kept. Staff was not very friendly or helpful. Poor activities scheduled when they weren't suddenly canceled. Housekeeping was non-existent. We found dirty towels in our room when we checked in, leading us to believe they had folded the towels and made the bed, but never put anything clean in after the folks before us. We had a tough time getting a hold of anyone to get clean linens. Also, no one was available at 8:30am on a Wednesday for us to check out, so we left the keys under the door of the office so we wouldn't miss our flight. We were sorry we picked this spot for our honeymoon and that we wasted some good timeshare in FL for it!

Best Things Nearby:
The whole town of Breckenridge! There are some great guided tours there including ATV rides into the Rockies, fly fishing, Hummer tours, and more! Dam Brewery in Dillion is a must for dining! Great food and great Micro beer!

Best Things About the Resort:
Unit itself was nice, but housekeeping and staff was absolutely terrible!

Resort Experience:
The units are very spacious and well kept inside. Views are terrible you either look out onto the neighboring development or right into the room of another building.

Staff was as friendly and helpful as a pit of vipers and the housekeeping left alot to be desired. We found both dirty and bloody towels left in our unit from the people before us, leading us to believe the folded the towels and made up the bed but all the linens were the same as from the folks before us. Truly sickening and disturbing!

Great place to eat! All the food there was excellent as well as their own micro-brewed beers! Atmosphere was very friendly and casual and all the wait staff were great! While you are there, you can take a free tour of the brewery and find some pretty unique souvenirs!

Very nice place. We actually went back instead of finding something new because the food was so good. Service was excellent, nice cozy atmosphere. Excellent prices, plus there were 2-for-1-entree specials the entire two weeks we were in the area.

Excellent food with a large selection of appetizers and entrees. Nice attire necessary. A little on the pricey side, but if you look them up on the internet, you can request on of their club cards that gets you 10% off your meal and they will mail the card anywhere in the U.S., so you have it before your trip.

Attraction

We had the best time learning the different techniques of fly fishing.

Our guide's name was Baylor and he was absolute fabulous! He was very patient with me as I have never used a fly rod before, extremely informative, and very helpful. He even took the time to take pictures of my husband and I as we caught our first fish and then one of us together.

Pike's Peak & The Cog RailwayBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Pike's Peak & The Cog Railway"

Cog Railway
At the summit of Pikes Peak, Katharine Lee Bates was inspired to pen the lines to her most famous poem, "America the Beautiful." She was overwhelmed by the sights of vast, open skies, planted fields, and the majestic Rocky Mountains. You will learn this and more when you take the Cog Railway to the top of Pike's Peak in Colorado Springs, CO.

The ride to the top takes about an hour, you can stay and visit at the gift center at the top, make sure to try the altitude donouts they are awesome! Some, like myself, may experience altitude sickness at the top (I mean it's only over 14,000 feet up for heaven's sake) including, dizziness, nausea, and weakness in the legs. After a few minutes you adjust then it's off to adventure the peak. You can take some absolutely beautiful pictures on a clear day. We visited in early June and there was still plenty of snow on the ground for a good snowball fight.

Royal Gorge Bridge & ParkBest of IgoUgo

Attraction | "Royal Gorge Bridge & Park"

Royal Gorge
The Royal Gorge Bridge and Park is definitely the way to go for this adventure. Once you pay the admission to get in you can ride all the rides there (excluding the Skycoaster) as many times as you would for free. There are places to eat, place to view animals, places to pet and ride animals, free shows of all sorts, and of course tons of gift shops. We saw lots of school and church groups while there and no matter how old or how young everyone seemed to be having a good time.

The bridge itself is 1,260 feet long and towers 150 feet high. You can walk across (warning: it's extremely windy in the middle) and see the different areas on the bridge where people have made record bungee and free fall jumps, take the free trolley, or even drive your own car across and have a picnic in the wildlife area on the other side.

While you are there the Incline Train is a must do! he length of the incline is 1,550 feet and is at a 100% grade, 45 degree angle. The rate of descent is at 3mph but it only takes about 5 mintues to reach the bottom. Once at the bottom you can walk out on a platform over the Arkansas River and perhaps get a chance to wave to tourists on the train that rides along the river.

Story/Tip

Summit County
Some may say the only time to visit Colorado is in the peak of ski season, others may tell you that the summer season is the best time to go. We however found that the "mud season" was perfect for those who don't like big crowds and love bargain hunting!

Starting Memorial Day weekend in Northwest Colorado begins the mud season. This is when the snow from mountains tops start to melt off, the streams run full and all the beautiful wild flowers start to bloom.

It also marks the time for all the shops and restaurants to begin opening. Make sure to pick up a copy of the local free paper in Summit County every day. Featured inside is not only a listing of all the local events going on, but every single restaurant running two for one dinners and lunches! We were able to go to some rather exspensive places to dine on this deal and not break our vacation bank. Those not running two for one deals still featured discount coupons in the paper as well. And The Mint, a local restaurant downtown Dillion, ran a special $2.99 night while we were there, including steaks, prime rib, all you can eat salad bar and more!!! The locals all know about it and it was packed, so you want to get there when they first open!

All the shops in Dillion, Frisco and Breckenridge were just starting to open and clean out last seasons inventory and we got some great buys! We purchased a huge painting of a moose walking thru a bunch of aspens, "Walk in the Woods", for 50% the regular price. We also purchased some t-shirts, sweatshirts, beautiful Christmas ornaments, and some jewelry for 75-80% off as well. To top it off every single place we called to take a tour or to hire a guide we were able to go either that very day or the following day and many of the places were also offering discounts.
