Best Things Nearby:Surfside Beach.Best Things About the Resort:Large units that overlook the golf course.Resort Experience:The building in which we stayed was a long ways from the check-in building. I was glad that we were able to check-in during the day, because if we had arrived at night I'm not too sure I would have found it! The front office was very friendly and accommodating in placing all of our family in four units in the same building. The units we were in were very spacious and clean. We had three two-bedroom units and one three-bedroom unit. The three-bedroom unit is actually a two-bedroom with a lockout unit. However, several of...Read More

We treated ourselves to this gourmet 100+ items seafood. We especially enjoyed the ship's all-you-can-eat buffet line with a delicious assortment of fresh seafood served broiled, deep-fried, baked, or steamed. My family feels the specialty is the crab legs. They also have a large assortment of salads, as well as a dessert table.

The grandchildren enjoyed the atmosphere with the live mermaids and music.

Surfside Beach

Attraction | "Surfside Beach SC"

Quote:
We found access to the beach areas at Surfside very easy. One concern we had was that most of the parking is metered. Since we are "all day" beachers, our concern was that we would remember to put money in at the right time. The one day that we found an unmetered parking area, we were a long distance from any bathroom facilities. We had eight small children with us and going in the car to find a bathroom wasn't the best experience.

We were at Surfside the third week in April and we found the beaches very uncrowded and enjoyable. We were able to build sand castles, ride the waves, fly kites, walk, and sunbathe without the crowds.

NASCAR SpeedPark Myrtle Beach

Attraction | "NASCAR Speedpark"

Quote:
Nascar SpeedPark features 26 acres with seven exciting tracks, kiddie rides, mini golf, SpeedDome arcade, indoor/outdoor food area, rock climbing wall, simulators, and retail area.

From my 11- and 13-year-old grandchildren to my 39-year-old son and his wife, the Nascar SpeedPark has all the thrills for the young at heart!

Also available for the non-racers is a miniature golf course. Although this one isn't very challenging, it does have its advantages for the park.

Boone Hall Plantation is a magnificent estate of 738 acres. It is located six miles north of Charlestown on U.S. Highway 17. As you enter the Boone Hall Plantation, the Avenue of Oaks - a three-quarter mile drive into the plantation is a very impressive sight. These oaks are draped in Spanish moss and at the end of the drive is the plantation mansion. We arrived just in time for the first tour of the mansion. This is a must-see tour as they give you the history of the plantation as well as seeing some of the historic furniture. The plantation itself and the outbuildings date back three hundred years, but the present mansion was built in 1935.Bordering the avenue of oaks are nine original sla...Read More

Huntington Beach State Park Photo, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
Quote:
Huntington Beach offers the best preserved beach on the Grand Strand. We found this area to be quieter and less populated then the beaches in the Surfside/Myrtle Beach area, yet the waves were better for the kids to enjoy. Not only is the beach great but the park’s freshwater lagoon, saltmarsh, and maritime forest are outstanding examples of the state’s natural coastal environment. The park is widely recognized as one of the best birding sites along the East Coast. Huntington Beach is also the site of the historic "Atalaya" castle. There is an admission fee of $5 per adult/youth age 16 - 64 and out-of state seniors; $3 per youth/child age 6-15; Free for children 5 and younger, and SC Seniors 65 a...Read More
