Overview

Houston is out of this world! There's so much to do and see in this sprawling city. The weather was great for the week-long trip I took during the early spring. It was hot enough in mid-march to swim. The Houston Zoo is great fun for the kids. It's right next to the park so don't forget to bring your lunch and enjoy the show. Six Flags Astroworld has superb rollercoasters that'll scare even the bravest of adults. Animated characters come alive to greet youngsters. Space Center Houston is where you learn about how it is to live in a space shuttle and see where mission control works. Papasita's Cantina...Read More

Restaurant | "Papasita's Cantina"

Quote:
Papasita's Cantina is a chain restaurant, but the food is genuine, authentic mexican food. The meat is spicy, the tacos crispy and the salsa is HOT!. The decor is flavorful--from blinking chili peppers to colorful sombreros. Papasita's is not another chain mexican restaurant with silly costumes. It's hopping on weekend nights so get there early. We went on a Friday night and had to wait at least 45 minutes. It was worth it because the food was so yummy. I had tacos, beans and rice and plenty of chips and salsa.

Six Flags Astroworld

Attraction | "*Six Flags Astroworld*"

Quote:
Six Flags AstroWorld's biggest attraction is its Batman themed ride. This coaster is crazy! You ride with your legs suspended through loops and twists and turns. Truly exciting and scary at the same time.

There are 10 other roller-coasters to keep you occupied in the down-time. Smaller kids will enjoy the "kids-only" portion of the theme park. While you're gobbling down cotton candy and greasy park food Warner Brothers cartoon characters glide by. Have your picture taken with Tweety or Daffy or Bugs. Great fun!

The Space Center Houston is great for both adults and kids. At some places like this the kids are having fun, but the adults are bored. Not here.

The Space Center is the visitor's part of the Johnson Space Center. You'll get to see moon rocks and space probes. Climb inside real astronaut space bunks and learn how the shower, eat and sleep. After you take a short ride on the tram, you can go behind the scenes of NASA's mission control. The space center is open 7 days a week.

Houston Zoo

Attraction | "The Houston Zoo"

Quote:
The Houston Zoo was founded in 1920 and began because of a lone bison named Earl. He was given to the city of Houston from the U.S. Government because they were thinning the bison herds. Additional deer were donated to keep Earl company. Eventually the zoo in Hermann Park grew in size as more animals were donated. The Houston Zoo today has a wide range of animals and shows to keep young ones and old ones educated and entertained. Watch your step as you wander through the zoo because you might just step on some of the wildlife. Colorful peacocks graze the area and so do other little critters. The zoo's open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily You can visit the Houston Zoo's website a...Read More
