It's a wonderful place to kick back and relax. Not as much to do as on Maui. Do the helicopter - it's worth the money. Eat at Roy's and Coconuts. Have a great time.

Best Things Nearby:
Some good restaurants, the beach, between north shore and west - easy to get to both places.

Best Things About the Resort:
The accomodations were very very nice. Clean (but a few bugs) nice bedding, everything you need in a resort location. The pool is small - but it never seemed to be overcrowded.

Resort Experience:
It's a great resort. Good views, nice setup, good restaurant, nice workers. We really enjoyed the accomodations and had a great time - we never wanted to leave. Have a great time if you stay here. They have good activities for all families.

Kaui Coast Resort
Kauai, Hawaii

We had lunch at Gaylord's and had a great time. It is a very expensive lunch so be prepared. The house is very cool and a real treasure. Our meal was very well prepared. You get a good portion but maybe a little small for the price. The view and atmosphere is the best part (next to the dessert).

Bubba Burger

Restaurant

It's a burger shop. Good burgers but pass on the Ono Fish - it's not worth the price. A good place to kick back and people watch. Eat on the deck unless you want to smell like the grill.

We love Roy's. We actually ate at Roy's on the Big Island and because it was so good decided to eat on the Kauai (I think the Big Island was better and somehow a little cheaper). It's worth the money. Great food, great coffee, great desserts. Have a great time - the service is EXCELLENT.

Hukalainnais???

Restaurant

This was the restaurant where we stayed. Normally we don't eat at a restaurant in a hotel/condo, but when we got feed up at the Lemongrass we opted to go here. It was very good. One of the best meals on the island. The service was ok - not bad just a little absent minded and they tried to charge me for two steaks. Accommodating and a kids meal. If you're looking for that and good food, choose this establishment.

The Bull Shed

Restaurant

Skip this one and save your money. It has a great view, but so do so many other restaurants. The service was poor, the food ok, the salad bar was weak, and no kids meal. What is so hard about a grilled cheese? Skip it, really.

TomKats

Restaurant

Skip it. Service was terrible, they don't want to accommodate special diets and to get your order taken takes 10 - 15 minutes (even when nobody else is in the establishment). Skip it and go somewhere they appreciate your business.

Coconuts

Restaurant

It's a great place for families. The food is very good and they accomodate children. We all enjoyed the experience. My son even wanted to go back to this place because of the food and how he was treated (he's 8). If you are looking for good dining - go here. The Coconut is great.

Coconuts
Highway 56 Kauai, Hawaii

This is a good helicopter service. I'm not sure if it's better than any other service - the windows are ok to see out of - some glare and if you are in the middle, be sure a small child is next to you. I wish the pilot would have given better opportunities to take pictures of the water falls and given us more info on the films and where they were shot. Our pilot was very nice--don't get me wrong--but for the money we spent, I wanted more. (This was probably the cheapest - but we had to watch a timeshare presentation)

Inter-Island Helicopters
Hwy 50 Kauai, Hawaii

This is a very nice place to use for riding horses. They accommodate all ages. The waterfall they take you to for swimming is very very cold - prepare yourself. They have a hut you can change in once you get there so you can wear your jeans if you want to. The lunch is just a sandwich - it's chicken, rice, fruit, coleslaw and cookies, juice/water. They educate everyone on the horses and how to work them - not really needed because the horses know exactly what to do. Nice group.
