Myrtle Beach is our Disney World

An August 2002 trip to Myrtle Beach by lizhockeymom

We have so much fun that we are drawn to it every year. When we go to Myrtle Beach, we find new treasures and enjoy the old ones. There is so much variety that for us it is like going to Disney with a beach. We like Disney too.

Activities that we always go back to include: Broadway at the Beach and Barefoot Landing. Both are big shopping areas with many activities to keep everyones attention (especially in the summer). The beach is so great for kids because it stays shallow for a long distance. The kids can ride the waves safely. Many attractions, too many for just one week. Our favorite finds last year include the Myrtle Waves Water Park. Well worth the money and fun for all ages. The Lazee River was my favorite. We also found a very fun German restaurant. It was full of culture with authentic, delicious German food and an accordian player who played German songs. he restaurant was the Horst Gasthaus German Restaurant and Bar.

Quick Tips:

Either rent an umbrella and chair each day or buy a cheap umbrella and chair at one of the many beach stores. This allows you to stay longer without worrying about too much sun even with sunscreen. It can be very hot on the beach.

Best Things About the Resort:
This timeshare is in North Myrtle Beach, which is not too crowded. It is great that it is right on the beach. We have stayed on and off the beach and with kids a resort on the beach is the best bet. The activities are great for the kids also and take place right outside near the beach.

Resort Experience:
I love that we can walk out the back door and step right on the beach. When we are done we can rinse off before going back to the room to get ready for our next adventure. The staff is very nice. The rooms are small and confining, which is to be expected when staying at a resort on the beach, but we find we are not in the room much with so many activities to enjoy in the area.

We had such a great time! We forgot we were in Myrtle Beach. We felt transported with the decor, costumes, food, and music. It is a small family owned restaurant but it was fun for us and the kids. The menu was authentic with (as I remember) a few additions for kids. There was an accordian player who played lively music and had people cheering for more. We can't wait to bring more of the family there this year.
