The Isle of Mull is one of my favorite places on earth. It is picturesque, quiet and peaceful. There is also a lot to do there from visiting historical places, exploring beaches and caves and hiking up mountains. It is the perfect place to get away from it all. This 19th century castle is still occupied by its owners. The rooms that are open to the public are furnished with antiques and family portraits. Outside you can stroll through the impressive gardens. Plan to spend at least ½ a day here.

Duart Castle

Attraction

Duart Castle is a dreamy fairytale castle. This 13th century structure was home of the Maclean clan. Inside you can learn about the history and climb the tower. Be sure to stop by the adorable tearoom and have some pastries before you leaving this site. Note: It is essential that you bring your camera because there are incredible views of the island from the castle grounds.

Mull Railway

Story/Tip

Take a ride on the railway in Craignure. The 1 ½ mile ride takes you to Torosay castle and gives you a good view of the surrounding mountains and island scenery. A one-way fare is $4 for adults and $2 for children.
