The Omni Shoreham Hotel is a four-star hotel that looks quite classy and bright when you first enter the lobby with their beautiful chandeliers and inviting cushion sofas -- "not too shabby" as a friend of mine put it. For two nights in a bedroom with two queen-size beds, the price was about $250 (including service and taxes), which we reserved online at Expedia. The rooms were clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable. Do not be tempted though by the scattered little snack munchies in the room -- they'll be tallied up in the hotel bill if eaten. After a half-day of walking, we took the metro to the Dupont Circle stop and went to an excellent Thai restaurant called Thai Chef. The well-lit restaurant has a modern decor and an upper floor for additional seating. Thai Chef has a good wide selection of Thai specialties, not just your regular pad thai, basil fried rice options. For appetizers, we ordered the Thai Chef dumplings dish, which had crab, shrimp, and chicken meat, and which was quite delicious. Then for the main courses we tried their shrimp pad thai, pineapple fried rice with chicken, honey roasted duck, a spicy basil chicken dish that is cooked with special herbs and sauce, and the Thai salad that comes with peanut sauce dressing.
