It's all about the beach !! Sure, Bogangar does have a sleepy local pub and there are two corner grocery stores, but the beach is the focus of the township, and that's the way it should be.
The beach and the surf are what it's all about. Tamarind Sands Resort is a 10 minute walk away (two minute drive with the board on the roof) from fabulous all year round surfing.
Norrie’s Headland with a long right hand point break relies on the swell, which refracts onto a shallow sand-bank about 80 metres offshore. The result is a dramatic, shifting wave with a sometimes critical takeoff. If sand is built up on the northern edge of the sand-bank, murderous closeouts occur on a regular basis.
Smaller swells from the north or northwest bring life to the Cabarita Beach break, which peels right across this idyllic location.
Quick Tips:
Do your grocery shopping at one of the bigger towns before you arrive at Cabarita Beach, since the only thing plentiful in the township itself is peace and quiet.
There is the majestic Hinterland just a quick drive away. A trip to Mt. Warning is almost as awe-inspiring as a visit to the hippy capital of Australia, Nimbin.
Just an hour away north on the new highway are the theme parks of the Gold Coast and an hour south is the alternative lifestyle of Byron Bay.
Best Way To Get Around:
A car!! Preferably a station-wagon with two surf boards on the roof. This the only transport with acceptable street cred!
