They say Hawaii is a tropical paradise and it is. My expectations in going to this diverse and exotic world could not even come close to the amazing islands of Hawaii.

Overview

A Hawaiian Blacksand Beach
Hawaii or the Big Island is know for its active volcanoe, but believe it or not, there is more to this island than just a volcanoe and lava flows. This islands also is the home of two of the largest cattle ranches in the U.S. and some of the best ocean fishing found anywhere. Besides is barren desert like west side and its lush green east side, the Big Island is the perfect place to go when you are looking to relax in Hawaii and get away from the large crowds that the other islands have.

Quick Tips:

Water, water, water. If you decide to go driving around the island and decide to do some exploring, make sure you take water with you. Even if you don't expect to wander far. Always take water with you!!! Before you know it you are winding down a mountain side toward a gorgeous blacksand beach, it is breathtaking and ever so gorgeous . . . you go to climb back up that mountain and then it hits you, your thirsty!!! Take and drink a lot of water!

Best Way To Get Around:

A car will go a long ways here. Unless you are staying in down in Kona (in the city) or in Hilo, a car will be your only real mode to get anywhere. There is no real public transit around the island and while you can bike it, expect to be biking a long ways!
Best Things Nearby:
This timeshare was a bit far from the ocean and in the village of Waikoloa. The only real great thing nearby was the golf course.

Best Things About the Resort:
The condo where we stayed was more like a two-bedroom studio and provide enough room for six of us to live in for our week. It was clean and well laid out.

Resort Experience:
The kitchen and living room were seperated by a breakfast nock. The living room was spacious and was open to the lanai (patio). The master bedroom and bathroom were seperated by a walk-in closet while the other bedroom shared the bathroom with the rest of the unit. There was air conditioning in each room and ceiling fans. It took us a day or two to figure out the air conditioner (Tip: point the remote at the unit). The grounds were clean and the landscaping was beautiful. Everything was lush and tropical, even though were in the "desert" part of the island. There was a world class golf course, swiming pool, hot tub, tennis court, fitness center, and activities room. In the village there was a small grocery store that had everything you needed and was moderate for prices. Keep in mind that Hawaii grocery stores are expensive regardless. Overall, a very appealing place.

CamelotBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

We went with Camelot. While they didn't have an "exclusive" package with food and drink, they did provide a great fishing experience. Deep sea fishing is nothing like the ol' bobber, sinker, and hook fishing. You pretty much spend your time trolling for fish. But once they hit man they are fun to catch. On our trip we caught a ono and a short bill swordfish (rare). If you have a group of six, these guys will offer you a good deal. Keep in mind, there are no guarantees in fishing, but the boat ride alone was very breathtaking. Also, if you are looking for a private fishing/snorkeling package, these guys have a deal for you!!!
