Los Angeles - a place not to be visited twice

Los Angeles

Overview

Universal Studios.

Quick Tips:

The best thing to do in L.A. is drive straight through it and not stop!

Best Way To Get Around:

Driving in central L.A. is a nightmare, as is public transport. In fact as mentioned, don't stop here, just carry on and visit San Diego!
Our standard room
When visiting Los Angeles we stayed just outside in Anaheim. This hotel is just over the road from Disneyland. However they still run free shuttle buses to & from Disney and also to Knotts Berry Farm.

Although Anaheim itself is nothing to write home about, this hotel is pleasant enough. It has a large reception with pleasant staff and has 314 guestrooms. Our room was a standard, but came with full en-suite including bath, king size bed, coffee maker, hair dryer, iron, ironing board, telephone, data port, color TV with movies and Nintendo. It also had a lounge area with sofa and coffee table. It was comfortable and clean.

Our room also overlooked Disney and every night at around 9pm we were able to hear and see the fireworks show. Very nice free entertainment.

Other amenities include game room, fitness center, gift shop, swimming pool, full-time concierge and restaurants.

All in all this was a very nice hotel & one I would recommend.

The Los Angeles version of Universal Studios is nowhere near as good as the one in Florida. If you are in the area, it is worth a visit, but if you have been to the Orlando version, you will be disappointed!

Many of the attractions are the same, such as ET, Back to the Future and Terminator 3D but many of the other ones such as Earthquake, Jaws and King Kong are incorporated into the Studio Tour and are very tame in comparison to Florida equivalents. If you are a first time Universal visitor, you are sure to be impressed.

Other attractions here include City Walk – shops and restaurants including Hard Rock Café. Water World a water stunt spectacular, Jurassic Park Ride and Backdraft.

All rides are very good fun, but as I mentioned before, the Orlando version is much bigger and better.
