The Promise of Sarajevo

Overview

Quote:
Wander around Bascarsija's Turkish market, visit the tunnel that kept Sarajevo alive during the seige, see one of the most famous Jewish books around, view the city from the hills, and set your days by the muezzins' calls from the mosques.

Quick Tips:

The magic of Sarajevo is partially in understanding what it's gone through. Read as much as you can, like Noel Malcolm's "Bosnia: A Short History", before coming and be sure to talk to whoever you can here about what life has been like.

Best Way To Get Around:

Sarajevo is a very walkable city. Otherwise cabs are cheap.

Cheap, fresh krompirusa and other burek-style foods. A Bosnian must-try. From the Bascarcija fountain, walk forward towards Cevapdzinica Hodzic, turn left. Walk past Bosanska Kuca and it's on the left.

Red & White

Attraction | "Red & White"

Quote:
Good friendly place for a drink. Music is pop, with occasional live bands. One night they were playing live covers of American classic rock. When it gets going around midnight, it can be a fun place to dance or just hang out. The sort of place where you don't need to show off.
