A May 2003 trip to Carlsbad by SierraSara
Quote: The Carlsbad Inn is a charming older resort that has been kept up-to-date and is well-maintained. We would love to return here for the resort and the surrounding activities.
Hotel
The workout room was good but not great. We loved the free bikes. You could check them out for two hours and cruise along the coast watching the surfers and birds. It was delightful. A very family friendly place. They have a ping pong table, games, and generally go the extra mile to have activities for all ages.
The Carlsbad Village has great little restaurants that you can walk to. Pronto's Market is good for lunch or take out dinners. We tried lots of the places and they were all pretty good.

The wine list was decent and not too pricey. The sauces for the fish was very flavorful without being too rich. They seem to use the freshest ingredients and the dishes are presented beautifully. I would definitely return here.
