A Real Paradise

A May 2003 trip to Paradise Island by 95 Pace Car

Harborside at Atlantis is exactly what it is advertised to be. All of the amenities of the Atlantis Resort are at your disposal. The entire staff was very accommodating.

The resort was exactly as their website and brochures advertisted. The staff was very accommodating. There is one pool at the Harborside, but you have access to all of the pools and water attractions at the Atlantis Resort. Their "Guest Transit Lounge" was terrific. It offered lockers, showers with bath gel, shampoo/conditioner, and hair dryers. They even had a small basket that spun out your wet bathing suit. You could spend the entire day at the pool or beach and go straight to dinner without returning to your room. Shuttle buses ran every five minutes or so between all areas of the resort. They had advertised every 30 minutes, so that was a plus. We couldn't have asked for anything more. It was great!!

Restaurant | "Market Place Buffet"

The Market Place Buffet was a bargain at $20 for either a breakfast or lunch buffet. All types of cuisine were available and all of the food was excellent. We did not choose to eat at Sea Grapes Buffet as it was geared more toward families and children. Both buffets were comparitively priced with Dinner costing $40. The staff at the Market Place could not do enough to make your meal enjoyable.

There are several types of restaurants to choose from in the plaza. It's less than a 10 minute walk from the Atlantis Resort. You can choose to eat either inside or out, but why waste a minute of the beautiful weather! Prices are much more affordable than eating at the Atlantis Resort and the food is great. The staff at each restaurant was very accommodating. Choose from Italian, American, or Native cuisine.

Attraction | "Bahama Divers"

My husband is the diver, but I went along on the boat as a non-diver. They did both a 40 and 80' dive. The crew was friendly. The diving was nothing to write home about. My husband took underwater pictures, but they don't compare to the scenes from other diving locations. He still enjoyed the trip and we did meet some great people from Oklahoma, Wisconsin, and Michigan. We went with Bahama Divers are they were well established and trusted. However, the diving would probably be the same with whatever company you choose.

Just the smell of the spa when you come through the doors is inviting. Both my husband and myself took advantage of a one-day pass for the Thalassotherapy pool and Utopian Water Rituals at the cost of $20. You can come an go as you please during the entire day; 8am-8pm.

There is a sequence of water therapies that are designed to balance the mind and body. Bathing suits are required as this is a unisex area of the spa. My favorite was the "cool fog shower" which is terrific after some of the warmer areas such as a Steam Room or Gentle Sauna. We both loved the Aromatic Steam Room. If you choose, you can schedule an outdoor massage by the pool. Mini massages are also offered "alfresco" by the ocean or pools. For the minimal price, it was a great introduction to the spa area. Prices for all other services were comparible to those in the Metro Chicago area but the ambiances were much more inviting.
