The Part of Florida Not Many See

The only highlights around the area were seeing the hundreds of thousands of oranges. Me being an orange lover, I smiled every time we passed by "Florida's Natural" Orange Juice company (to and from the resort). What an aromatic, therapeutic rush that was, no matter what time of day.

Quick Tips:

Don't go there unless you're boring and just want to be away from everything and everyone.

Best Way To Get Around:

Best way to get around is definitely by car.

Not much is nearby. You have to travel for food and dining. Not much to do in the area.

Best Things About the Resort:
The only thing we took advantage of was the location and the new experience. Because we were traveling from Orlando to Ft. Lauderdale, we figured the central part of Florida would be beneficial. It's really the only good thing we got out of it.

Resort Experience:
Our experience at the resort was limited. Of course, it didn't have much to offer and finding the place wasn't easy. It's pretty much hidden from the main road and I had to use other common reference points to locate the resort because local residents weren't sure where the resort was.

We finally get there and the office was closed so we 'found' our keys in the mailbox of the office outside.

The room was cozy and clean, but the environment wasn't pleasant. We knew we may bump into some alligators, which from a distance we did. We only used the pool once during our week stay and it was just for half a day before the lake/swamp bugs decided to join us. Of course, hundreds of them ended up dying in the pool. Then to top it off, a 8-9 foot gator decided to stop by and pay us a visit. We don't like uninvited guests, so we left. Though I found it a little fascinating to see a gator right in front of you, my wife disagrees.

At night, it's insect and bugs party. They were swarming everywhere. We couldn't even launder our clothes without them wanting to smell the softner. All in all, I'm glad we didn't spend much time in the resort. But we enjoyed seeing the Florida many don't know about. I remember running over something at 1:30am, but who knows what animal it was. Traveling between destinations was ok, but would I do it again? NO!!!

Only one thing I found humorous. The night before we left, someone left one of the unit's front door open. Those pesty night bugs were having a party. I wonder how long it took housekeeping to clean that place? Of course, I was gonna close the door, but what if the person got locked out? Oh well.
