A Closer Look

An April 2003 trip to St. Thomas by Chaka

We had visited St. Thomas twice on Cruise Ships but always wanted to spend more time on the island -- by becoming RCI Points members, this allowed us the opportunity achieve this goal.

Overview

We highly recommend the British Virgin Island Tour aboard Breakaway. Also Megans Bay Beach is a must see. Also milkshakes from the local dairy are unbelievable (located just up the road from Megans Bay Beach).

We also recommend the following restaurants, Amalie Cafe and Fagiolis in Charlotte Amalie and The Agave's Terrace which overlooks Coki Beach.

Quick Tips:

Bring bug spray, the mosquitos were very bad at the higher elevations.

When you first arrive try taking a tour of St. Thomas, it will orient you for the rest of the trip.

Best Way To Get Around:

Taxi's are very expensive but considering how crazy everyone drives we found it the best alternative.

Best Things Nearby:
Megans Bay Beach, Milk Shakes at the Dairy, Mahogany Run Golf Course.

Best Things About the Resort:
Very quiet, nice location.

Resort Experience:
Our only measuring stick prior to staying here was a couple of Gold Crown resorts, this was quite a few levels below that. In the defense of this resort, it was not ranked as a Gold Crown and we knew that coming into this vacation.

Restaurant

Although it was fairly expensive ($94.00 for the meal plus $40.00 for a taxi), the food and service was very very good. The view and surroundings are unbelievable.

Restaurant

We had planned on going here for supper, but ran out of time and decided to have lunch at this restuarant. The food was very good and the service and atmosphere was great. If lunch was that good, then supper would probably have been great.

We were walking by this restuarant and liked the atmosphere so decided to stop. We were very suprised and pleased with the food. This may have been our best meal of the trip. Service was very good and the atmosphere of a narrow alley was very nice.

We felt this was the best part of our entire trip. The Baths are beyond words. Lunch was very memorable. The crew was great and the snorkeling was great.
