Overview

The Water
Cancun offers so many highlights it's hard to list them all. The best of the many include: the beach, the resorts, the ocean, and of course the nightclubs are to be envied by the rest of the Western Hemisphere.

Quick Tips:

If you do not want to be dragged into a store to look at the merchants' goods, avoid eye contact. However, it is fun to look around all of the little shops in the Coral Negro Flea Market; just be sure to haggle with the merchant for a lower price. When you go to Cancun, take the all-inclusive package if possible.

Best Way To Get Around:

The best way to get around the central area of the Hotel Zone is by bus; it's only .65, roughly. If you need to go farther, I'd reccommend a taxi. I am not certain how safe or reputable the car rentals are, I have heard if something breaks, even if it's not your fault, it's your responsibility; in all fairness though, I do have one friend that rented a car and everything turned out "OK".

Hotel

This resort is large with all the necessary amenities: beach, pool, bar. When I first walked into the resort, I was in awe. In front of the main doors is this very large, saltwater aquarium with fish bigger than me! This lovely lady offered me a strawberry daiquiri to get my vacation started. The staff is very friendly and helpful, they don't expect tips because of the all inclusive, but if you throw them a couple of pesos, they will always be there for you.

Unique qualities: all of the timeshare units face the beach. I loved waking up and hearing the waves rolling in and out. The free-form swimming pool is one of the neatest I've seen, and it's not deep, in case you drink too much. This resort has three restaurants onsite, one is a grass roof hut right on the beach. There is even a fancy restaurant in the center of all the rooms called the "Atrium" offering Italian cuisine. This place is absolutely beatiful. Every night the resort has a different theme and live entertainment, the best part is, it's outdoors! During the day they have games such as bingo, I even won a T-shirt. This resort has a sister property across the way on the lagoon side with a swim-up bar and several other restaurants, that can be used if the all-inclusive package is taken.

Restaurant

I'm not sure about the food, I only ate quesadillas while I was in Cancun (vegetarian). The atmosphere of the restaurant was great. The place is a hut-like building with one big open-air dining area that spilled out onto the deck. We sat on the deck over the lagoon and had our dinner under the stars. Inside, was a live band playing salsa music, and one of the employees grabbed me up from the table and gave me a quick lesson. I've never had so much fun! Favorite dish: The bucket of beer. It's a bucket filled with ice and a HUGE bottle of SOL. My guy also got a bucket of shrimp . . . he said it was good.
