Things To Do In Estes Park, Colorado

Overview

Quote:
Just because a city like Estes Park is small doesn't mean there aren't plenty of enjoyable things to do. We had so much fun relaxing and basking in the mountain fresh air. Just being in Estes Park made so many wonderful memories. If we had to sum our most memorable moment, it would have to be our drive on the Trail Ridge Road. Since we were in the car for long periods of time, this brought family closeness and togetherness. What is better than that? Quick Tips: I have to laugh at this. My quick tips/suggestions is to bring jackets! Even though we went during the summer time, Estes Park is situated high on the mountains. We were never in this high of an altitude before, but we now know...Read More

Grubsteak is a nice, cozy restaurant that is located in downtown Estes Park. What a perfect retreat after a day of shopping. After hearing many positive recommendations on Grubsteak, we've decided to try this place out ourselves. Needless to say, we were not disappointed with it at all. Here is a family/dining restaurant that strives to please its customers. Believe me, I know. I had an incident that only proved to me just what kind of place Grubsteak really is. Here's why I think so highly of them. We've been to Grubsteak twice. The first time I ordered a cheeseburger. Once I took a bite and looked down at my cheeseburger, I noticed it was pink. Well, this gal doesn't...Read More

We've noticed a huge sign that said "Aerial Tramway" on our way to Rams Horn Village. We really didn't know what this place was all about, but knew before our trip was over we would visit here. After all, we're such a curious bunch. Aerial Tramway is located in East Park Village and is one block south of the post office. Once you've seen the sign, you won't forget its whereabouts. Up, up, and away you go on the tram that takes you above the tree tops to Prospect Mountain. Once you have arrived there, you have a choice of staying there all day or return whenever you wish. The choice is yours. We didn't think we would be up there all that long, but little did we know what adventur...Read More

To help plan your visit at RMNP, I would advise you to stop at a Visitor Center. They usually have a model of RMNP. After seeing this, it should help you become more familiar with RMNP. Upon entering the park, you'll have to pay an entrance fee. It cost us $15 for the car load. Some info: Keep the receipt. This receipt is valid for seven consecutive days. Not bad for $15. You will also be given a map of RMNP. This map was a lifesaver!! THINGS YOU CAN DO DURING THE SUMMER ARE: Driving on the Famous Trail Ridge Road (aka U.S. 34) Horseback Riding Camping Fishing Climbing Unfortunately, we had ...Read More

Once you arrive at Downtown Estes Park, make sure you park where it's free. Some places actually charges you for this service. There are several places you can park for free right along the downtown area. After seeing Downtown Estes Park, it looks so cute and quaint. All of the shops were lined up on both sides of the street. It kind of looks like something you would see in a setting of a movie. But no, this was for real. Estes Park Downtown has more than 300 shops, 50 restaurants, over 145 different accommodations, museums, galleries, and parks to picnic. No wonder why tourists (and locals) love it here so much! In the mood for shopping? Well, let me warn you. You will lo...Read More

Ever since I seen the movie The Shining, I've always been fascinated with The Stanley Hotel. Here was my chance to see and view the real thing. When coming into Estes Park, you can actually see The Stanley Hotel from afar. The view it provides is massive, yet elegant. This romantic and secluded hotel and its surrounding land is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. HISTORY ON THE STANLEY HOTEL: F.O. Stanley and his wife, Flora, arrived in Denver in 1903. F. O. (Freelan Oscar) had been sent by his doctor to Colorado to seek the fresh mountain air after being diagnosed with tuberculosis. With no signs of improvement, they traveled to Estes Park and ...Read More

Cascade Creek Mini-Golf Course at Ride-A-Kart is a family amusement park that deserves to be recognized. Cascade Creek Mini-Golf: They have two courses to challenge yourself with. We had a blast playing at both of these courses. With one course being more advance than the other one, we really couldn't tell you which one we've enjoyed the most. They were both fantastic! You're surrounded by waterfalls and mountains throughout playing putt-putt. We highly recommend both of them. Water Bumper Boats: I was not about to go near the Water Bumper Baots because it was a bit chilly that day. I surely didn't want to get wet. But teenagers being teenagers, t...Read More
