vegas nights

An April 2001 trip to Las Vegas by keiferj2000

I spent four days at the HGVC Club at the Las Vegas Hilton. Beautiful timeshare. There are many activities in Vegas, as I'm sure you know!

Overview

We've been to Vegas twice, I enjoyed walking through all the casinos on the strip, shopping in the various malls, going to the Hoover Dam, Going to the show "O", and seeing the light show downtown.

Quick Tips:

Best Way To Get Around:

We felt that a car was the best way to get around if you don't mind driving in chaos. Otherwise, there are a lot of free trams between the hotels, public buses that are cheap but can be crowded, and plenty of cabs.

Best Things Nearby:
The Strip, Wet and wild, and the casinos.

Best Things About the Resort:
This timeshare is newer and very clean. It is well laid out, the rooms are tastefully decorated, and are very comfortable. Will definitely return to this location.

Resort Experience:
Located a little off the strip and perfect if you like to get away from the hustle and bustle when you return to your room. It is a short walk to the Hilton Las Vegas and the Sahara if you want nearby gambling. The pool area is nice and never seemed crowded. Gift shop was nice, had all the basics you might need. The staff was very freindly and accomodated all our needs.

We eat here every time we visit Las Vegas. The food and staff are always great. The atmosphere is nice and casual. Pretty much guaranteed a good time when you eat here.

Hoover DamBest of IgoUgo

Attraction

Hoover Dam is a spectacular sight. I highly recommend the drive to the dam as there are some spectacular sights along the way, and then taking the tour thru the dam. It was really interesting to learn how the dam was built and how it works.

Attraction | "Jubilee"

If you like old Las Vegas variety show entertainment where the women are topless, you may like this -- as for me, I thought it was kind of tacky.

The show goes through about five different acts with dancing and singing accompanying them. The final act was a magician that had to pretty much beg the audience to applaud for him. Throughout the show there were a lot of cheap sets and I guess expensive costumes.

We received our tickets for free and if you do the same I guess it's a decent night out, but I would definitely not buy tickets.

Story/Tip

This show is amazing, like nothing you've ever seen. It is a little expensive but worth every penny. Treat your eyes and ears to something like you'll never see again! There is a pool in the middle of the stage, the depth is controled from being a dry stage to a very deep pool that the acrobats and actors swim and dive into. All the music, singing, and costumes are very original and unique.

Before the show I recommend you go to a lounge inside the Bellagio I think called the Fontana. It's a great place to have a drink and watch the fountains in front of the hotel.
