Fern Grotto
Visiting the Princeville Resort and taking the elevator from the hotel down to the beach. Going to Hanalei Bay for sightseeing and swimming and walking on the pier for some excellent photo shots. The Hanalei Bay Resort has a great bar, overlooking pools and one of the best views of Hanalei Bay. Just sitting on the lanai at our room at Bali Hai Villas was beautiful and peaceful - either in the morning with a cup of coffee or in the evening with a glass of wine.

Quick Tips:

Must visit the bar at the Hanalei Bay Resort. Bali Hai Villas offers a 2-for-1 helicopter tour, this too is a must do on Kauai. A drive to the south end of the island to see Waimea Canyon is definitely a full day, but well worth the trip. When you go, be sure to go all the way to the end of the road, not just the official sightseeing stop where most people turn around. Plan on having lunch at the lodge. The food is not bad, and it is a nice break. On another day, be sure to take the boat trip to the Fern Grotto, it too is a not to be missed fun time.

Best Way To Get Around:

A car is a must when visiting Kauai. There is no mass transportation. Traffic can get pretty heavy at times when going through some of the towns - Kapaa and Lihue come to mind - so plan your trips so that you miss rush hour traffic in these places. The drive - anywhere - is breathtaking. The scenery is absolutely magnificent everywhere.
We stayed in a one-bedroom condo. It was outstanding. The decor was very relaxing and fit perfectly with this tropical resort. This was our fourth trip to this resort, and we will return again. The staff is very nice and very accommodating. Your stay here will be one of the best you have experienced.

Pahio Bali Hai Villas
Best Things Nearby:
Princeville Shopping Center, the town of Hanalei and Hanalei Bay. The bar at nearby Hanalei Resort is very nice with some of the best views of the bay and a local hangout.

Best Things About the Resort:
The location, right near the Princeville golf course, and the freshwater (no chlorination) swimming pool and spa is absolutely fantastic.

Resort Experience:
You can wade into the pool from the sand 'beach', which extends into the fresh water pool. The spa has a sand bottom also. There is a waterfall at one end of the pool, and the rooms are large and well appointed. It is a great place to visit, and even greater to own.

You check in at the airport on arrival and get your unit number and key. This allows you to stop and purchase groceries, etc., on the way to the unit without having to go back out right away once you arrive. Once here, it is easy to see why the Pahio Bali Hai Villas is a RCI Gold Crown Resort. Fantastic!

Restaurant | "Bubba Burger"

If you have never had a BUBBA Burger in Hawaii, then you are missing a GREAT HAMBURGER! Bubba's is the place to eat. Their burgers have an old-fashioned relish - the one in Hanelei is probably the best for location, but the Kapaa one offers a nice view. But hey, you are in Hawaii, and at either of these locations, you are on KAUAI!!! Try Bubba's - you'll be glad you did.

Restaurant

The Hanalei Bay Resort has a GREAT BAR and a VERY GOOD restaurant. The views from both the bar and restaurant are some of the most spectacular on the island.

They have some of the best mai tais on the island at a reasonable price. The cuisine is American and South Pacific/Hawaiian. They offer a large variety with large portions.

I love to hang out at the bar, as do many locals in the evenings. Don Ho's nephew even sings here once in a while.
