We recommend the following: Cafe at Wexford for Sunday brunch is elegant, very gourmet, and has a European flair. Tours by Camelot to Charleston are delightful. For golf enthusiasts we recommend Port Royal. We stayed at Southwind Villas, which is very nice. The Carolina Club needs some serious refurbishing.

The Camelot tours are full of history and very informative. Robbers Row is a challenging golf course. No trip is complete without a stop at the Salty Dog. We also recommend lunch at the Heritage Grill in Sea Pines.

Quick Tips:

We find lunch at any of the golf courses are delicious and reasonable. The golf shops also have nice things to take home for gifts.

Best Way To Get Around:

We rent a car at the HHI airport. We also take the boat ride from the lighthouse to Savannah. It's scenic and beats a drive. It brings you right into dock, hop a trolley, and go back in time!
Best Things Nearby:
Biking, golf, dining, shopping. Lovely grounds, peaceful and just loved the Spanish moss laden trees. It was like a canopy and very restful.

Best Things About the Resort:
Clean, liked the location and layout. Very large bathrooms and whirlpool baths in each. Nice tropical flair in decor.

Resort Experience:
Loved the area and the resort. You have your privacy and can sit and watch the golfer go by on your deck. I would highly recommend this resort.

South Wind Villas
35 Deallyon Avenue Hilton Head, South Carolina

Best Things Nearby:
Location is prime, right on the golf course and in Shipyard. Walking, beach, golf, and dining. Very central.

Best Things About the Resort:
We had a three-bedroom but a chair was missing upon arrival and it looked more worn and used. It was certainly spacious but I think this particular unit is used for exchanges. A picture was behind the bed and was not bothered to be placed on the wall upon our arrival. The staff were friendly but I wasn't as impressed. I think with some refurbishing it could brighten up a nice resort. Roomy!

Resort Experience:
With some fixing up and attention to detail I think this could be a competitive resort. On our first visit I had admired it and thought how nice it would be to stay here. It had some disappointments. I can see it lost its Gold Crown status as well, so that confirms it for me.
