THE SOUTH PACIFIC

Overview

Quote:
The Mexican western coast, bathed by the Pacific Ocean, is the biggest coastline in the country. It has a special characteristic: shallow waters, gold sand beaches, and hills that are devoured by the sea.Quick Tips: The historical importance of these coasts is enourmous. Right after the Mexican conquest, Hernan Cortes sent many explorers to the western coasts, which settled in a primitive port in the Rio Balsas, to then move to an Indian town called Acapulco. This beach is considered one of the largest and most secure beaches in Mexico, it is 82 km long! You can walk in the water about 100 yards and the water depth is only going to be about five feet. The waves are very calm, and the water is warm almost all year round.

At the south end of the beach there are places that are just beautiful, such as Boca del Rio, and the Cuautla Channel, which are great for a boating tour, admiring the shores full of vegetation visited by a wide variety of birds. This beach is perfect.

This almost virgin beach is great for those interested in investigation, adventure, and contact with nature. It has a few kilometers of extention and goes all the way to the delta of the river Lerma-Santiago. This beach is covered with soft sand with decent waves, and the water color goes from blue to green and it is warm - just great to refresh!

Here you can practice swimming, scuba diving, sailing, and deep sea fishing (marlin fishing).

The vegetation is mainly bushes with a few palm trees. You can rent a boat and enjoy either the beach or the river. Restaurants are palapa style, and they are not what you might be used to, but believe me, seafood there is just great!
