We went on our yearly familiy vaction to the great beaches of Cabo San Lucas. I purchased a truck and decided to do this trip on the road. HINT - Know where you're driving before you go, including the road conditions of your route. Our destination was the Club Solaris Resort.

The room accommodations were alright. We got two rooms during our stay. They were back to back with an joining door to each other. The kids had two beds and ours had a king. The beds were not the most comfortable, but better than some of the other hotels in Mexico. The bathrooms were well-maintained by their cleaning staff. Wall to wall tile. Nothing too extremely nice about the room, but we like that all the rooms have a balcony. All the rooms have cable TV, which is a plus.

Best Things Nearby:
If you like to walk then you could enjoy the city of San Jose, but if not you're hurting. Taxis in the area are outragously priced. I heard someone say they are worse than NYC.

Best Things About the Resort:
The faclity is very nice. The spa is also very nice, but not cheap. Good service though.

Resort Experience:
Cabo in general is very nice, but overly priced in all aspects. The stores have outrageous prices on everthing they sell. If you plan to deal in the shops yoy better ensure that a cruise is not at port. The merchants seem to increase their prices whenever the cruises are in port.

The facility is good with their different activities every day. Every other day they do a gaming thing were you get fake money and then they auction it off among the people in attendance. It got a little boring, but the kids enjoyed it. They have very good attractions put on by the staff. The shows are well choreographed with limited but good effects at times. The same staff continuosly strives to pump up the crowd and their efforts are just sometimes not appreciated by the people there. We tried to get involved as much as possible and make the best out of it.

I liked their bicycle/ shopping ride to town. I did it by myself and it was good relaxation. They also gave us a snorkeling tour. Very Nice...we got to see some nice fishies and a whale on our way back. Always have a camera ready...you never know!

The restaurant was very nice. We got the reservation late in the evening, which was not a good idea with kids. The environment was great with live music going from one table to the other serenading.

We arrived early to get seated as soon as possible. Too early said the restaurant personnel, but accomodated us with a table outside at a bar.

They forgot about us an we ended up sitting in a table that I didn't like at all. I asked for a change, but they couldn't make up their mind and we ended up sitting there anyway.

The menu was the same for the most part as it is a all-inclusive resort. The waiter took our order and then it really got ugly. We got our salad about 15-20 minutes later. Then we waited another 15-20 (kids are now falling asleep). I had to call the head waiter and have him advise me of the problem as other people around us had their food. Sure, they were going to get right on it.

We got our soup about 10 minutes later. We then were served our main course. The meal was alright, but after all that waiting it was also cold.

As we were leaving they still had the nerve to ask us if we wanted dessert. I'll tell you what, I was so upset that I couldn't even sleep.

I had the greatest experience at the resorts breakfast arrangements. The buffet was extraordinary with all the greatest food to choose from. One of the things I looked forward to every morning was the homemade waffles. They also make your favorite milkshake with all the fruits and ingredients that tempted you. The service at the restaurant was magnificent and made your morning every day.

POOL/ACTIVITIES AT THE RESORT:

Most of the activities are for the adults. The activities are going to be good only if the people are joining in and participating in them. The staff does all they can to stimulate the environment, but it's up to you and all the others to make it a fun experience. Believe me, if you don't make the best of it, you're not going to enjoy it. The pools are, well, a pool. Nice pools, but watch out for the pelicans. One liked to drop in and swim with the people. They are pretty scary up close though!
