Tampa - plenty to see and do

A travel journal to Tampa by Tideone

Quote: Tampa and the surrounding area is one of our favorite places to vacation but don't be in a hurry to get anywhere, especially if you are traveling in the early morning or early evening, the traffic is terrible. We almost missed our plane when we got stuck on the interstate in bumper to bumper traffic.

Tampa - plenty to see and do

Overview

Quote:
There are so many things to see and do in the Tampa Bay area that it is hard to pinpoint just one. In what part of town you've got Busch Gardens, while Ybor City is in another. And the area surrounding Tamps is filled with plenty of things to see and do. If you love the water, then the Tampa area is the place to come but one word to the wise, plan to spend more than just a couple of days when visiting the area. My wife and I have visited the area twice - just in the past year - and we still haven't seen everything or done everything.Quick Tips: I love trains - especially passenger trains. I often think I came along too late although I do have a few memories of my mother taking me on the t...Read More

Marriott Tampa Airport

Hotel | "Tampa Marriott Airport"

Quote:
The accommodations are like any other Marriott but what we like best about staying at this Marriott is its convenience to the airport. Located inside the airport terminal, the hotel is very quiet despite the almost constant take offs and landings going on outside your room. The hotel has all the amenities as other Marriott's but the one feature we like is the bellman taking your luggage directly to your airline checking desk or in another case taking it directly to our rental car and loading it in the car for us.The staff of this hotel are some of the nicest we have ever come across in all of our travels. We find it so much more convenient to spend our last night here ...Read More

Busch Gardens Tampa Bay

When visiting the Tampa Bay area, at least one day must be set aside for visiting Busch Gardens.
There are plenty of activiites for all members of the family but it is the roller coasters that Busch Gardens may be most famous for now.
I don't have to ride them to get my thrills - I can just look at them and my heart starts racing.

Despite construction on the interstate and having to take a round about way to get here we finally made it to our first Indian casino. If you like bingo and poker then this is the place for you. I have never seen so many people playing bingo in one place in my life. Actually it was a little intimidating to my wife so even though she had wanted to play before we got there - she changed her mind after seeing the large crowd playing. If you are used to the slots and video poker machines of Las Vegas then you are in for a huge disappointment here. There were some lotto type games and some treasure chest type games, where you tried to find the buried treasure. Unles...Read More

It is like taking a step back in time to what hotels were like in the 19th century.
You can see what it was like to be rich and catered to during a trip to Florida in the 1890's.

This is one of the nicest airports we have ever flown in and out of. Unlike other airports where you can walk yourself to death going from one terminal to another, you are only a few steps away from almost every gate at this airport.
The shuttle trains whisk you from the terminal to your gate in less than two minutes.
The rental car facilities here are also very nice with your car waiting right almost right outside the front door and the return is just as easy. No busses to catch.
There are also plenty of places to grab that last minute meal before boarding your flight and there is a great area for shopping.
