DESTINATION HOT SPRINGS

A January 2003 trip to Hot Springs by SISCEC

This is a fast growing vacation spot in Arkansas. Hot Springs has it all - horse races, three area lakes, national park tours, famous Hot Springs baths and spas, shopping malls, and a few of President Clinton's favorite eateries. A week is not enough time to spend here.

These units are located on the lake and I don't think you can get a room with a bad view. The sun comes up over the lake and dawn break. The last stay we were not informed of construction that was going on until we were checking in, but this was in January so business was a little slow. The clerks have always been very friendly and helpful. There is a boat dock and fishing dock on the premises.

When we are in the Hot Springs area we always try to get reservations at Emerald Isle. Love it!

Best Things Nearby:
Lake with water sports (sky diving, boat rentals, jet ski rentals and even a showboat tour around Anthony Island) and also an antique mall, factory outlet, and shopping mall.

Best Things About the Resort:
Just on the outskirts of the city on a quiet setting.

Resort Experience:
The units are three stories with easy access to all floors. They are disability friendly. As you enter the unit you have a great view of the lake from the living area balcony.

The master bedroom shares the balcony. Both rooms have a sliding glass door to the balcony. If you are lucky enough to be on the first floor you can walk right out to the lake.

The bedrooms each have a king bed and are fully furnished. The sofa also becomes a queen bed if needed.

The kitchen is fully furnished with enough dinner ware to entertain a house full. The living area is combined with the dining area, which will seat eight. There is also a wet bar in the dining area.

The living area has a large sofa, loveseat, and chair. The entire timeshare is very spacious.

There is an outdoor pool and an indoor hot tub and spa located in the club house, which is locked when the main office is closed, but we were given a key during check in to access the club house.

I have found the ladies at the front desk to be very friendly. They do their best to make your stay enjoyable.

McClard's Bar-B-QBest of IgoUgo

Restaurant | "McClards Bar BQ"

This is a very busy, small place. We have found you need to be there when the door opens at 11am or wait until after the noon rush. Once you are seated the service is speedy. This is a family business that has been in operation for generations. They smoke their own meat in the back and you can smell it for blocks before you get there. The sauce is unique with a flavor of its own, a little on the spicy side. They serve some of the greatest fries around and their own version of cole slaw. We visit this area yearly and always try to make this one of our stops.
