Overview

Entrance to the beach
The beach is within walking distance-great for a morning stroll. You can walk around cliff areas on the beach. There is a beautiful scenic route following Highway 101 north. You can travel through several other beach communities, like Carlsbad. It is a short drive to more populated beaches, the San Diego Zoo, Sea World, San Diego Bay, and more.

Quick Tips:

Try to do things so you don't end up in the evening commute. You can spend what seems like hours in traffic. Purchase tickets to attractions online. You can usually get a discount as well as not have to wait in lines when you get there. You can go online and get coupons for food and entertainment at this website.

Best Way To Get Around:

The only way to get around Solana is by car, or in the downtown area, by walking, biking, or skating. You will need a car to go to San Diego. Once in San Diego, you can get around to most attractions by trolley.

Best Things Nearby:
San Diego, with all its amenities. The beach is within walking distance. Good local live entertainment.

Best Things About the Resort:
The pool was great. We had a nice patio right off the pool. The bed in the room flipped up, so it was out of the way in the daytime.

Resort Experience:
The resort was right across the street from Del Mar horse racing track. The season had not started, which may have been a good thing, because the traffic was not very busy with it closed. You need a car to get around, but once you get to San Diego, you can get around without it. You can even go to Mexico with your car. There is a nice drive you can take along old Highway 101 that is very scenic. The nearby beach is small, but you can stroll a lot of the cliffs and find secluded spots.

Attraction

Koala Bear
I had been to the zoo when I was eight years old. It has gotten very big and has way more animals. My favorites are the pandas, Tasmanian devils, and the giant Galapagos tortoises. You need some good walking shoes. It is a lot to see, but if you start in the morning, you can usually get it all in.
